I mail all my documents via USPS express( approx $30.00) and i takes about 5 working days at most.

last tme i did, it was held up due to incompetence by festac office claiming they dnt deliver "package " to homes even though the label clearly stated 'documents" on it. we found out my emailing their EMS office and my sister visiting their surulere office to maker enquiries. eventually my sister had to go pick it up in festac.... they wanted extra money too since it was a "package" but I had warned her to not give them anything.

I send all packages through USPS Express mail. You can pay more for 3 to 5 day delivery, or you can choose 6 to 10 day delivery for less. You can then track it, however, once it leaves NY, you will not find anymore info on it when you track it online, but if you call USPS, they can make a tracking inquiry. Nigeria will tell USPS which post office the package is at within a day or so. I have only had trouble with 1 package, and Nigeria kept telling USPS that the package was at a particular post office, and my husband would go there to claim it and they would tell him it wasn't there. After 3 different tries at 3 different post offices, I requested my package be returned to me, and it was back here in the states very quickly, within a few days if I recall correctly. It was very irritating, that they couldn't find where it was accurately for my husband to pick it up, but they had no problem locating it to return to me in record time! :bonk: But at least I got everything back. . I am sure the error was at the post office in Nigeria where he went to collect it.

In most cases no. There is no street delivery in Nigeria, mostly.

Your SO should know which general post office serves his area/town or should start making enquiries now.

They will text/call when the package arrives for pickup.

Joseph quicky made friends with the head officer there and tipped him a small bit for prompt delivery. We only had one package ever get "damaged" and somehow a childs toy went missing. The man would call Joseph and there was usually some candy he gave the man.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

I always include my fiances phone number on the letter or package so they can notify him. And Gowon, have you inquired about your package sent 9/25?

Yep, no good news.

For some reason I did not keep the customs paperwork (which is highly unlikely of me) but it is what it is. Here they said they need that to be able to do anything.

My Fiancee has also been stopping by her local post office but they haven't seen it, they said.

I guess it was bound to happen.

I've sent many packages to Nigeria using USPS before. Usually get's there in 2 weeks.

My last package sent on 9/25 has still not been delivered.

I vividly remember someone posting a hint about what to do in this case.

You can go to the EMS-Speedpost website and "Track and Confirm" to see if it will give you any information. Just enter the USPS tracking number without spaces:

You can check the tracking system daily via USPS or EMS Speedpost (see my link in the previous post) as well as sign up for USPS to send you email updates...unfortunately they are always behind. Usually it takes about 2-3 weeks to receive something from US to Nigeria as it (I believe) goes through customs and gets stuck there. Calling USPS does not help as once it leaves the country they seem to not know how to tell you where it is exactly.

Once any USPS mail/package leaves the country, there is NO TRACKING available. If a item is missing, your only option is to check with the local post office. My husband's documents were missing for 2 weeks, only by returning repeatedly to the post office and "tipping" a staff person was he able to hunt down the missing package. It was laying in a main post office distribution center and he ended up having to go to another post office outside his area to pick it up.

Always put phone numbers on the package or mail. Use a USPS flat rate box or envelope to send any type of mail or items. CLEARLY address the mail and remember there is no USPS tracking outside of the country, ever! There is no home delivery, the item must be picked up at the post office. If you send any package with anything of value (even if it doesn't seem of much value here in the states) there will be a import tax. Clearly mark all items in the package on the customs' form. The recipient will be asked to verbally declare the packages contents and the package will be opened by the postal official who will then determine the tax on the package.
