So it's someone else's fault that these men insist on making these ridiculously offensive statements?

No, you are right, these people are public speakers and political combatants (so to speak) and should have answers prepared for when these sensitive questions are raised........ especially in light of the known campaign the Left is running. (war on women)

The left is waging a war on women?

Every time someone (and why is it a Republican, 99% of the time?) comes out and says "no abortion, even in cases of rape" .. they are really saying "the man who rapes you has more control over your body and your life in the future than you do"

Anyone who doesn't see that as wrong and offensive isn't someone I'd want to associate with, personally or politically.

I am completely sick to death of hearing about other people's faith and religions. keep it to yourself. if you don't like abortions - don't have one. i'm pro choice - but i sincerely doubt i'd ever be able to have an abortion. hopefully i'll never find out. i personally know girls who have, when they were young, and it hasn't been something that was easy or without lasting regret. but it was a personal choice - and only the woman making that choice lives with the consequence.

until god comes out of the clouds and starts stomping on planned parenthood clinics or zapping doctors - MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS.

if god's got a problem - he's a big fella, let him deal with it.

Bet you would..... then folks like you and Obama could decide what Rights are allowable.

If it will make you feel better, there are a number of countries which have the exact model you long for.... ours on the other hand in unique in that way.

I know it's tough to accept that faith in God (though no specific church) is at the very core of our founding... and our continued history.

No, the founding fathers spoke of a "wall of separation" between church and state. They did not speak of a one way door. You know as well as I do that they did not want that. If we allow religion to legislate morality, then we have lost that basic right.

You do realize one of the first acts of congress was to put a Mister on payroll to serve the Congressional house?

I guess they loss their way right from the start.

Some how you see a nations common faith as a "church".

FDR never saw it that way.

(warning, trap is set)

Danno,

Many of the states mention the founding of a nation, the pioneering of a nation..all of this means nothing to me as First Nations were well...FIRST. Our founding "fathers" also almost obliterated First Nations in countless ways, but I guess that's another topic.

You talk about Obama taking away freedoms etc...yet many Republicans want to take away women's right to choose. I hope to God that I never have to make that choice, but that choice needs to be mine to make. Not yours, not Obama's, not Romney's, nor anyone else's. If that right is taken away, what other proposal and consequence will there be for those victims of rape and incest? How about the baby gets given to the perpetrator, all medical bills are paid by him too.

I hope these politicians' wives, mothers, daughters, sisters never have these horrible experiences happen to them because there will be no option for them.

Wow to hear you speak of the changes that the Europeans brought to the Indians one would assume you are anti- immigration in many ways?

In fact that you acknowledge, that immigration in large numbers does effect.. and often upset the apple cart is a welcome observation though you are right it is another debate altogether.

You mention the "right" to abortion as if it is some long held, time tested "right", it was not (it was a felony not long ago) and even know as over half the people are prolife on one level or another and one must do serious gymnastics to even find it in the Constitution. As well it is limited in many places so it is not absolute right.

However that being said, these conversations about banning Abortion for cases of rape and incest are ridiculous as no one is even suggestion it be banned..... ANYWHERE that I am aware of.

Roughly a million abortions are carried out every year we both know the cases of rape and incest are a very, very small fraction of the whole.

So this whole election cycle stunt is meaningless.

I think most people including myself, can appreciate how grave situations in life can provide the argued justification for grave remedies in these tragic instances which is why you can rest your mind because no one can imagine the stopping of abortions in every case.

Law is an blunt instrument to bring about the greatest good possible it can never deliver the absolute good, not for you or for me.

This sort of discourse is so typical in election years.

Of course, most, if not all of these politicians can send their wives and daughters to Europe, for a quick and discrete abortion if required, so they can freely oppose it in the USA where it is legal.

john-koster-300x1981.jpg

John Koster, a Republican running for Congress in Washington, became the latest candidate to opine on abortion exceptions in cases of rape and incest over the weekend at a fundraiser with Rep. Tom Price (R-GA). Koster said he would support abortion only if the woman's life was in danger, but would not extend the same right to women who are survivors of incest or "the rape thing," as he casually termed it. To justify his opposition, Koster insisted that incest is rare and argued that abortion would only further hurt rape survivors:

Incest is so rare, I mean, it's
so
rare. But the rape thing…you know, I know a woman who was raped and kept her child, gave it up for adoption, she doesn't regret it.
In fact, she's a big pro-life proponent. But on the rape thing, it's like, how does putting more violence onto a woman's body and taking the life of an innocent child that's the consequence of this crime, how does that make it better? You know what I mean?

There have been bills introduced not only in a number of states but on the national level as well that would do just that. Paul Ryan supports them all. He is on record referring to rape as a method of conception. That's how radical that man is.

I'm not anti-immigration; in fact, I'm emigrating to America myself. What I am against, is the attitude that other races don't belong, because everyone except Aboriginals is an immigrant. Immigration is how America as we know it, came to be.

Regarding my comments on abortion. I referred to the right to "choose".

On another note, I still don't get the backlash against funding contraceptives. One would think that easier access to contraceptives would reduce abortions.

It's simple. Schtupping solely for fun is verboten -- it's a holy and sacred act meant only for procreation.

Abortion- Yeah you have a "right to choose" in the same way as I have a "right" to have in my way at Burgerking

no actually your right to choose is a bit more questionable than that because 95% of the people understand at some point in that babies development, it has a right too. If not why would the Law require the fetus be medicated before it's torn apart?

Contraceptives.- The Gov't has as a primary responsibility of protecting Life liberty and all that..... not to provide your boyfriend with condoms. Since you are imigrating here the first thing I suggest you understand is what "limited Government" means to our form of governance.

Indians- The only reason you and too many others seem so clueless and therefore mislead on the problem we had with the Indians is because you watch movies like "dances with wolves" and stuff like that to base your perception (not really your fault).

Our two cultures were two far apart, to co exist in many cases. When we called thievery they called -going to the market. When we called civilized warfare they called crazy.

How do you live side by side with people who are not far from the stone age, in some cases still eating human flesh?

Tell me if you would want this group as neighbors.

Indian Raid

A Company of Heroes

by Dale Van Every

Always the great object was surprise. Always there was the swift and secret approach, the sudden, brief, incredibly violent eruption of death and devastation, and then the equally swift and secret withdrawal. The sudden demoniac materialization out of the previously silent and seemingly empty forest of a pack of howling savages, painted in grotesquely fearsome designs of red and black and green, appeared at first glance and from that first second an apparition too appalling to permit comprehension.

The composite family of this representative instance might have comprised a husband and wife, his mother, her brother, and six children ranging from an infant in arms to teenage boy and girl. The husband was shot as the Indians sprang from the woods before he could even reach for his rifle. The brother, seated on the ground against a stump while shaping a new hoe handle, crawled frantically into a nearby patch of weeds where in the attackers' extreme excitement he remained undiscovered. The lack of resistance failed to temper the initial ferocity of the Indian assault. The raiders appeared possessed by an insensate frenzy.

The scalp was torn from the still living grandmother. The baby was snatched from its mother's arms and swung by its heels to crush its skull against a corner of the corncrib. The expiring head of the family was dismembered and his entrails festooned about the dooryard. His wife's breasts and unborn child were carved from her convulsed body and cast into the flames of the burning cabin. Every item of property too bulky to carry away was destroyed. After a brief consideration of their prospective abilities to keep pace on the return march the three younger children were dispatched, one casually axed, one tossed on the point of a spear, the third shot with arrows after being permitted to start running away. The scalps of all three children were removed with as much interest as had been their elders'. Their value at Detroit would equal that of any white adult's. The older boy and girl, selected to be carried off as captives, were not harmed. Aside from being beaten if they lagged they would be well enough treated on the way back. They, too, had a value. When they reached their captors' town they would be required to run the gauntlet, but thereafter their prospects would be subject to wide variations. Either or both might be burned for the stay-at-homes' edification, might be adopted into the tribe, or might be sold at Detroit at the going price of $100 in cash or trade for each prisoner.

Whats so radical about the bold section? I thought it was far more radical to say rape is not a method of conception. Thats the stance of one Missouri politician....
