Oh, so Christie is pimping for Obama now? He's no longer the conservative superstar? See, that's why you guys have nothing but washed out second hand garbage politicians on the right. Because you dismiss the credible ones once they actually govern responsibly. Keep doing that so that this fcuking right fringe will make itself as irrelevant as possible. America might actually stand a chance to prosper once again.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

I think that regardless of motive it is commendable that Romney took the time to help as much as he could. I am sure that $5k worth of food can take care of all displaced people in NY/NJ for years to come as you suggest... whistling.gif

Apparently you are misinformed. However, pay attention to the last phrase, in bold, and take action. There are several websites where you can make a donation to the entity of your choice to help those who are still in need.

Put your $$ where your mouth is and show Obama how's it's done by taking initiative as a private citizen. Anything else is just a ton of hot air and bipartisan BC.

National Guard evacuates people, takes food to New Jersey city

Hoboken, N.J. — National Guard troops delivered food and supplies to residents in this heavily flooded city across from Manhattan on Wednesday as officials sent out a plea for boats, generators and volunteers.

Superstorm Sandy sent the raging Hudson River waters from one side of the one-square-mile city to the other Monday. Two days later, at least 25 percent of the community remained flooded, leaving many residents anxious about whether they could get out and municipal leaders struggling to get assistance to all those who needed it.

Tempers flared Wednesday at a staging area outside City Hall, where a man screamed at emergency officials about why food and water had not been delivered to residents just a few blocks away. The man, who would not give his name, said he blew up an air mattress to float over to a staging area.

City officials defended their response.

"The dimension and scope of this situation is enormous," Public Safety Director Jon Tooke said. "You have emergency operations at all levels — from local to federal — spread too thin across the city and the state, but we're working on it."

Tooke said the estimated 20,000 people still stranded in their homes were being encouraged to shelter in place, and that high-water vehicles would get supplies to them. He said people with medical and other special needs were being taken out by trucks.

National Guard troops arrived Tuesday night, and on Wednesday city officials were issuing an appeal for additional aid. They asked that people bring boats and generators to the staging area at City Hall, which was on dry ground.

"We are doing what we can but we really need more help," said the mayor's spokesman, Juan Melli.

Brad Pitt just donated $100,000 of his own cash to a worthy cause with no cameras rolling and no political gains involved. He won't sell even one movie ticket more or less because of it.

Romney, worth reportedly $300,000,000.00 -- which means he can burn about 2 million dollars per month in interest alone for the rest of his natural life without even having to touch a dime of his money -- spent $5,000 on foods that they are dumping somewhere, and he only did it for personal gains.

I would not mind voting for a Republican deserving of my vote, but I have no respect for this Mormon phony who has only his own interest at heart and couldn't care less about any average Joe or Jane. He is human trash. If you were to throw his body through a meat grinder, the pigs would spit it out. The only reason that he won the nomination as the Republican candidate is that he is like a cameleon, changing the color of his skin in an instant without giving it a second thought. His biggest political achievement was implementing Romneycare for Massachusetts, and the residents loved him for that. Now that Obama has used his model for the Affordable Health Care Act, he pledged to get rid of it. Thinking of Romney I must think of a guy in a bar who toasts with you, smiles, and when you turn around to put down your glass, he cuts your throat, then smiles again.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

I am sorry to inform you that you are barking at the wrong tree. I am not the editor of The Detroit News.

Regardless of what was said and by whom it was said, my post was only meant to educate the other poster who was under the incorrect notion that the Federal government had not acted on the affected areas.

You are, in effect, shooting the messenger.

Unlike Obama, Romney actually worked for a living. He ran a business. Obama on the other hand has never held a legit job in his life.

You should know by now that according to some on here foods only good when it comes from Democrats spending tax payer dollars. If a Republican chooses to spend his own personal money on food donations then it's a bad thing. It's more of that liberal sense where spending other peoples money is all they know.

Yup.

Do a google in Bloomberg. Unlike some on here there's still hope for ya yet.

I know who he is. I personally don't care about your opinion of him. He (and others) have said Obama's been great during this crisis. I'll trust those people saying it who are actually there instead of some random guy on the internet looking for an argument. Thank you. :)

If you know about Big Dollar Bloomberg then why mention his name in that post? That only makes your post a target for some random guy posting on the internet.

btw if you ever read up on Bloomberg the billionaire and the slimy ####### he's pulled in the past you would have never brought up his name.
