Quick question? We been married for about almost three years, but we received an CR1 visa instead of an IR1 visa. When we initially started the process we were an CR1. Marriage date 1/18/2010. Is that going to be a problem in order to get the 10 year permanent green card?

Is it worth mentioning it to the Cairo Embassy or will the immigration office at POE make that call?

Man cant these people do anything right on our case!!!!!!!!!!

I would not contact the embassy ever again to fix anything

At POE just tell Ahmed to mention gently to the IO that you have been married over 2 years and can he mark the IR1?

It should be simple

When his green card comes in the mail check it closely!! Make sure it is the IR1. If it is not then contact them quickly. They will fix it but not if you wait long.

Also, 5 days after he gets here, take him to the social securit office and apply for a new card. Do not menion the ds230 checkmark of issue a ssn from 2 yrs ago.

Just apply for the ssn and he will get it much sooner then waiting for our government to send it

Then he can get an ID card in his name then he can get a DL

yeah!!!! Congrats my friend. Many blessings are coming your way

Its seems the embassy has replied to Ahmed email. I'm gonna kill him for emailing them without us both agreeing to do it. Anyways they said we have been asked to send it back via DHL and the marriage certificate to correct it.

well, hopefully it will just take another 10 days to get it back again. And then you will know you have no worries or paperwork or interviews for 10 years!!! or citizenship in 3 years from his date of arrival!!

Agree with other posters. Just let the CBP officer know at the POE. Doesn't matter what the visa says, what matters is how long you've been married the day he steps onto American soil.

Yep, POE is the date that matters. It will result in a 10 year green card being sent to you about a month later.
