Adding my oath date.

I had my interview this past Wednesday. Like others, the actual interview took ~10mins. I cannot remember all the questions, but these are the ones I can remember:

1. If the President can not longer serve, who becomes President?

2. There are four amendments to the Constitution about who can vote. Describe one of them.

3. Who is in charge of the executive branch?

4. What is one reason colonists came to America?

For studying for the test, I printed out the flashcards, and found that very helpful.

They gave me form N-445 on the day of my interview, about 45mins later. All in all, it was a positive experience. The lady who conducted my interview was professional but pleasant. She asked me if my Husband was with me (he was at home looking after our newborn), asked for bank statements, didn't ask to see any of my original documents nor did she need the passport photos. She definitely wanted the IRS statements of the last three years. I'm glad I brought everything with my anyway, whether she saw them or not. I didn't want anything to go wrong!

So had my interview today. Went well I thought. Only got asked 6 civics questions as I got them all right.

I did however get the box ticked saying they couldn't make a decision right now. She said it was a big file and she needed to review it. Anyone had experience with this and what the normal timeframe is to hear Amy updates.

mozplay I have a question :unsure:

I remember you saying that your friend had an interview before you. Did he/she already have his/her oath in Rochester? If yes, could you tell me how long was the whole thing, how many people? I wanted to plan a trip to a museum after the oath with my family but it depends on how long everything could take...

Hey Luke and Deanna,

I did. I still don't know what was the reason, it could have been (1) I did not write my legal name in my application, my full legal name included my 2nd last name. (2) I spent around 1.8 years out of the country, though a single trip never lasted more than 6 months. (3) I was recently married, and my wife is not a USA citizen or LPR.

Anyways, it took around a month for them to make a decision. I had 2 infopasses, called the NCS at least 3 times, and asked my congressman for help. I am unsure if any of those did anything, but better than nothing.

I'm in the same boat (got a 'no decision' at interview regarding some trips out of the USA). That was just over a month ago with not a peep from USCIS. More waiting.

My interview went great, it lasted 45 minutes though, but it was good, swore in, went through my application, all verified. except, I had a speeding ticket, that I did not disclose in my application because it's less than 500 and not a DUI involved, so I mentioned it during the interview, then the IO marked down in my app as YES. and requested to show her the ticket receipt which is paid. "Thank God, I have it on me" she then verified it and all went well. passed the civic, writing and reading exams.

The questions are:

1- What is an amendment?

2- What is the supreme law of the land?

3- What is the capital of your state?

4- Who signs bills to become laws?

5- What do we show loyalty to when we say the Pledge of Allegiance?

6- What is the Oath of Allegiance?

Reading: Where is the White House?

Writing: The White House in Washington D.C.

Then she handed me N-652 form and said Congratulation, you have passed the test. Oath Ceremony probably will be held in the same location by April 1st.

Congratulation! Your application has been recommended for approval. :thumbs:

Now waiting for the Oath Letter! lets hope very soon

Looks like we've had some good progress since last I checked in. Lots of approvals and oath dates... congrats to all of you! You must be so happy to be checking off all these boxes. Almost done

Luke and Deanna, my interview was Feb 13 and I'm still waiting too. I was approved pending name check (they had to name check the name I now want to use - my husband's surname - though I've never actually used it). I will have to call them to see what's up.

Alacranita .. it was lllllooooonnnnnnnggggggg. Don't get there before they tell you to, because they don't open the court up early. The room is also small, so get there on time. They also start on time. The people are really nice but because they encourage everyone to take photos when it's their turn to go up, it kinda takes forever. I'd say that you should expect to be there for about 3 hours. We had 4 small children with us so it was a good excuse to leave a little early, but I think that's very much frowned upon. But the kids were really getting fidgety.

mozplay thank you! that's the thing I was concerned about. I have 2 small kids and we wanted to take them to the museum afterwards but if it's gonna take 3 hours then I'm starting to think I should drive there by myself. Was it at monroe county courthouse? (I read there are 2 different places for oath)

It was downtown Rochester. Parking right across the street. But do take someone. There was one girl there alone and she was like the red headed stepchild of the day. I'd you take someone who can watch the kids she or he can also take them out into the hallway for a break. People were doing that too. Many people find the process moving. I was exhausted because I was experiencing it as though it were me and it was the culmination of all of this.
