Heyyyyyy Atlanta peeps!

It's been a long time. I'm just checking in. I'm still at NVC stage, no developments. Our case is not complete yet due to delays on husband's side.

If he was prepared, I think he could have been here by now!

USCIS: 307 days from NOA1 to NOA2 (no RFE's)

15JUN2012 USC married in Côte d'Ivoire
13AUG2012 I-130 sent by FedEx to Chicago
15AUG2012 I-130 packet delivered to mailroom, per FedEx.com
18AUG2012 NOA1, rcvd SMS & email saying case is routed to Vermont Service Center, later rcvd by snail mail
21AUG2012 the date on next I-797C received only by snail mail, says petition transferred to Lee's Summit,MO
28AUG2012 "touch" (website shows case was updated)
03OCT2012 the date casefile was sent to Atlanta, per phone call with ISO
01FEB2013 infopass at Atlanta, casefile has not even been assigned to anyone yet!

21JUN2013 NOA2, email received! USCIS website is updated! No SMS was received.

Letter rcvd later by snail mail from NBC, Lee's Summit, MO; however, I know file was adjudicated in Atlanta.

NVC:

11JUL2013 the date NVC says they received our file

19JUL2013 called and got Case # and IIN #, gave email addresses

Hi guys,

Great news- about 10 months- And at last We have our approval letter in hand. Feel so blessed and the feeling can not be described. Hope this gives others, that like us have been waiting for a very long time some hope. Our lawyers say the NVC stage at this point is taking months- talking about 6 months. We do not exactly believe in that, but regardless, we are excited and can not wait for all this journey to end so we can put aside our suitcases and be in our home.

It's kind of hard to understand the NVC stage since we have others that are filing for us, however we just got to know that we must to the DS 260 online. which is fine, but all of the NVC stage can only begin ones we have heard from NVC that they have received our case- right?

Does NVC contact us and send the package and tell us what they need automatically, and that is when we can actually send in everything to them?

Thank you, and good luck to all.

First of all, congratulations on your approval!!!

In regards to your lawyer saying that the NVC stage is taking about 6 months, it really depends on a lot of things. See the breakdown below:

  1. Now, USCIS will send your file to NVC. How long will it take? This is a big misery. It could take anywhere from days to a few weeks, but I could also take months if Atlanta USCIS messes up again. That happened to a few folks here where their files were sent to the wrong address. I pray that they don’t mess up again so that yours can get there very soon.
  2. How do you know if NVC receive your case? You will need to call them and provide your USCIS receipt number. I will give it between 1-2 weeks from the approval date before calling. NVC is open from 7am to midnight ET, and their phone no is (603) 334-0700.
  3. How long will it take for NVC processing? It depends. Once your NVC receive you file, it will be scanned into their system and your DoS case number will be generated. From that point to when your case is completed could take as little as 1.5 months (if you don’t make mistakes on any form and receive a checklist – RFE) to 6 months (if you make a lot of mistakes).
  4. When will you know about interview? This depends on your embassy and their workload. It could range anywhere from 1(for most countries) to12 months from your case completion date at NVC. I can also help you on how to estimate your interview time, once your file makes it over to NVC.
  5. What can you now?
    1. Start calling NVC in a week or two to check if they have your case.
    2. Start preparing all the documents you will need at the NVC state (this is a very confusing processing stage and its best to ALWAYS plan ahead).
    3. Consider joining the monthly NVC filers thread http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/457530-nvc-filers-october-2013/#entry6547401. You will get answers to almost all of your questions and almost everybody there is currently at the NVC stage. You will also know which forms you need to complete, and which documents you will need.

Let us know if you have any further questions and once again, congratulations.

By the way, if you hire a lawyer ONLY to help you with the administrative processing of your case, you can consider firing them because you can do this yourself even faster, and cheaper. secret7vf.gif

Thank you so much. We pretty much have everything ready, though now we were told that we gotta do the ds 260 instead, and even with that we are just waiting to be granted permision to go in and fill that frm out.

As far as the lawyers, they are already paid long ago, But it is important for those with lawyers to know- be informed- do not be passive about your case- do push forward.

Praying for speedy NVC stage. BTW: for the NVC stage- is the benifitiary also able to optain information when calling them, or is it still only the petitioner than can do that?

Thank you Bismark. The NVC stage seems to be way more confusing- but you are right, if everything is ready, it will definately be doing yourself a huge favor.

DS-260 is the electronic immigrant visa application. In other words, it’s the online version of the manual DS-230. My understanding is that everybody has to use the DS-260 effective September 1, 2013. You are a few weeks, if not a month away from that form (you have multiple steps between now and the time to complete that form) so don’t worry. You can get the PDF version and start looking at the questions, if you want but I don’t think it’s that complicated.

YES, the beneficiary is also able to obtain information. One thing you can (or almost MUST do) is that once your case number is generated, give them your email address and that of the beneficiary and tell them to email all correspondents to you. If you don’t do this they may mail everything, which could take you several months.

Cheers!!

Ask them if your case and invoice ID numbers have been generated. If they are available, obtain them over the phone. Also, give them your email address and that of the beneficiary and request that you will like to receive future docs by email. I dont think they will have your case number yet since the file was received a few days ago, but you never know, ask them.

She did added my email and my wife's email on to the file. I guess she did not had my invoice ID numbers yet. So I guess ill wait until next week and try it again. Do you know once ID number is generated, how long does it take for my wife's (in INDIA) interview?

India is pretty good from case complete to interview (1-2 months). If everything goes well (assuming u wont make mistakes on any form that will trigger a checklist), it appears that you can get a case complete by the end of November, which could put your wife's interview date somewhere between December 2013 and January 2014. This really depends and the best you can do now is to pray that NVC generate your case number and invoice your bills very soon. Also dont make mistakes on your AOS and IV packages as most people did (including myself), because each mistake could trigger a checklist which may delay you between 3-4 weeks.

You can read my most on page 41 dated 25 September about the summary of the NVC steps. Also consider joining the monthly NVC filers forum and read from people also at the NVC stage.

Good luck!

Thanks alot for all the information. I have hired a lawyer for this case. She has handled many of these type of case. Most of the people who I know had positive experience with her before. therefore, I am hoping she will not be making any error. but for now she has asked me to forward (via mail or I can drop it off) following documents while its making it to NVC please let me know if i need to have any other document ready just incase:

1. Embassy filing fee of $318

3. Certified copy of Nahal’s birth certificate with certified translation

4. Certified copy of marriage contract with certified translation

5. A copy of her passport – every page, cover to cover

6. Completed questionnaire with Nahal’s information

7. Your 2010, 2011, 2012 federal income tax transcripts – please follow this link to the IRS website to obtain your official tax transcripts. http://www.irs.gov/Individuals/Order-a-Transcript

8. Your 4 most recent pay stubs or letter verifying employment and salary

9. If you need joint sponsor – I will need the following:

a. 2010,2011,2012 tax transcripts

b. 4 most recent paystubs or letter verifying employment and salary

c. Proof of green card or US citizen status

Also one more question: I have already order my federal income tax transcripts. it has been 3 days and as of yet i m still waiting on it to be delivered. My question is can I submit my 3 years of tax returns instead of tax transcripts?

Thank You!
