to all my people here, there is one thing which is making me very sad right now. Someone told me that the bombing which took place in Boston which involves the two Russian guys will affect any petitions coming from Russia. My husband is a Nigeria but he lives legally in Russia and we are going to be applying for the CR 1 visa from Moscow. Do you think this may be a problem ?

I've heard arguments on both sides. I think that any country with which the US has visa reciprocity will have something to say about any proposed changes. My own world-weary opinion is that it won't affect things until new legislation is passed, which could take months, and may not affect things at all. After all it's not as though nobody knew Chechnya was a trouble spot. People from there have already been under increased scrutiny.

Thank you very much , because i won't lie, I was thinking of hiring a lawyer before to look into our case with USCIS because i was scared. though i had an argument with my husband, and he said we should leave it alone because he believes it won't affect it and he think we should keep on praying, is not that i don't beleive . I just don't want anything to delay this again as am already tired of this long waiting

My husband and I believe that lawyers are for when you know what is wrong, not when you don't know what is wrong. If you don't know what is wrong, a lawyer will just ask you "what do you think I can do about it?". And what will you say? What law will help you? Save it till you know what needs fixing.

That said, I have thought for a while that the Atlanta filers should have some sort of class-action suit, if they believe they have been unfairly singled out because of a protected class, or because of some legal obligation on the part of the local office to process files in a timely way, if such can be proven.

Hello Ahmed&raneen,

its very painful. mine is september 17. a day ahead of you. I have contacted my senators also and also my congressman , I must confess they the two senators wrote me back and my congressman wrote me back also and they all promised to find solution to it and i should expect something good and this is only last week, fingers crossed, i hope something good will come out of it. But to be honest, I do not know why they are doing this to us. its sad to see vermont december filer from nbc and other local offices getting approved why we are still there. Its unfair and i have cried and cried because i miss my husband and he miss me so much but i hope before middle of may, all will be well.
