Now we're getting downright racist, for crying out loud! You got serious issues, lady!

Yes, this racist comment of val erie is totally out of line. I realize the long, despicable history of racists referring to Filipinos as the ni**ers of the pacific, but this does NOT justify her use of racist terminology.

Stop clutching your pearls. It's not a racist phrase, and I doubt val intended it that way, given her posting history. It comes from the Greek, and the first instance of the phrase was in a 16th century translation of Erasmus, predating the first recorded instance of the word "spade" as a pejorative term for an African or African-American by almost 400 years.

I have a news flash. I'm an African and I wasn't offended.

So now what?

PS: Can I still clutch my pearls? It's an instinctive reaction whenever I see your avatar sad.gif

Oh, I wasn't talking to you. Clutch away!

I just thought it was funny, because there was so much talk earlier about misinterpreting a phrase on here, and then oops, it happened again.

Edit to add: I asked my boyfriend to choose a new avatar for me. He thought this new one summed up my combination of sweetness and quasi-trollishness nicely.star_smile.gif

not sure why you are so shocked and suprised about this happening to you. this was always going to fail you are seeking much younger women and that too from a country that is capital of Fraud. surely in the back of your mind you must have thought this could happen one day....anyways yea go get another one and when that one leaves get another one and so on and on. USCIS will adjudicate the petitions and if you are lucky as Bill you will keep em coming for years to come. Its your right. and hopefully one of these will be THE ONE. good luck.

He is African and was not here in the U.S. when these types of words were used derogatoryly. Although i am only in my 30s i can remember being called these words when I was young and my mother crying because she wasnt there at the time it was said and I didnt know the meaning because my mother and father never taught us what color we were and the negative contations it carried.
