I had my interview at the Consulate in Naples yesterday and I made it!! :) I plan to enter the States for Christmas and I'm now starting to look at flights. I noticed that one-way flights are more expensive than a round-trip (does it make any sense by the way?!)! Do you have to necessarily get a one-way flight?

And what is the best port of entry (if any)?

Congrats!

You don't have to get a one-way flight, but do remember to cancel the return flight! On the best POE, that's subjective and it would vary for everyone. Plus, the POE would depend on where you will be traveling and your final destination. Be sure to check out the POE reviews: http://www.visajourney.com/reviews/poereviews.php

Also, to ensure you don't hit any snags, book your flight once the visa is in your hands.

Ok cool!!! I'll get a round trip flight then. The prices for one-way flights are so expensive! I don't get it!

I didn't think about waiting until I have the visa in my hand, thanks for the heads up. It's going to be a matter of a few days anyway. I'm courious though, which problems could it cause?

I'll check the reviews for the POEs. Thank you!

Also, at the Consulate they didn't give me any package to bring to the customs. Just a little envelope with the x-ray results and a medical receipt for the visit. Reading through hundreds of reviews for the consular interview, they all say you get this envelope with 'DO NOT OPEN' written on it. Will I get it with the passport and visa?

It's best to wait to have the visa in hand to ensure you actually do receive it. There have been many instances where people got approved and then thought they would have the visa back right away, only to either have to change their flights at the last minute or endure additional stress when the visa showed up the day before they were supposed to fly out.

Yes, the infamous "do not open" package will be with your passport/visa. Not sure if it's the same in Italy, but the package delivered to my fiancé today was in a large package with the passport and a letter sitting outside the DNO package. The DNO package was clearly marked (again, may be different in Italy).

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Congrats!!! Depending upon the airlines, it can be cheaper than round trip.

Hi, for some reason when you buy a one way ticket to leave Europe, it is for some reason more expensive. I got a one way ticket from the States to Italy and it was cheaper than the round trip. I'm gonna eventually have my interview for the spouse visa in Naples, may I ask you more info about your interview? I am getting so nervous since I don't know if the proof I'm gonna show to the interview, is enough to show that my relationship with my husband is true!
