Just wanted to see if anyone has used Ling Che's or James's NVC shortcuts lately? I noticed one difference already, I don't think they have automated messages anymore. I have tried calling and during business hours I can speak to a person, and after hours no person or automated message. I assume I will be able to obtain the NVC case number and other information this way, but I am wondering if anything else has changed.

Yes, they took the AVR away earlier this year. Now you can only call an operator during their opening hours.

Personally, I find both wikis a little outdated as I believe both talk about generating barcodes, which are definitely not needed anymore. Instead, I suggest clicking on the last two links in my signature. It will bring you to two posts with a plethora of links as well as an FAQ on the NVC process.

Keep in mind though, as you're from Peru, you're REQUIRED to do online forms (DS-261/DS-260). Source (table at bottom): http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_5165.html
