Edited:

  • Makes some tall claims about his service (such as he can't even get straight who was president when the raid into Cambodia was done)
  • gets into Congress/Senate praising North Vietnam (whom US was at war with--this would make him US equivalent of Lord Haw Haw, but the latter was already a peer before WW2)
  • having presidential aspirations, authorises a forged document to be used (did you miss the issue of the fonts, daniel-san?) against his incumbent-president opponent

So, saying "Kerry hates US" is only barely less logical than saying "Trudeau hated Canada" (past-tense only because Trudeau has been dead since 2000--skipped mil service in 1939 through bribery, welcomed US deserters when he was PM, made obscene gesture against Canada in front of media in 1982 WHILE PM)

I served in Vietnam. What's your point? It was mandatory to serve for my generation, and that of Kerry.

We had no shortage of pompous, elite, a$$holes biding their time......

This guy's an a$$hole and I'm glad he's now brought the Democrats to critical mass. It won't be long until Dean pukes some similar nonsense and this party will once again implode....

Now, I wonder why this video clip is only 10 seconds long. Could it possibly be because whoever edited the video wanted Kerry to be taken out of context? Surely not!

it's not taken out of context. read the whole transcript. just because something is edited doesn't mean it was done to show something in a different context than it was originally intended (although this happens quite a bit in the political arena), sometimes it's done because what was said immediately prior or after was a different topic, or had nothing to do with the context. this is the case here. and why anybody would try to cover for kerry on this is beyond me......what's that song.......i see your true colors shining through...

[*]Makes some tall claims about his service (such as he can't even get straight who was president when the raid into Cambodia was done)

i am sorry, did i not write that he FOUGHT for this country? or are you claiming that he did not fight for this country?

[*]gets into Congress/Senate praising North Vietnam (whom US was at war with--this would make him US equivalent of Lord Haw Haw, but the latter was already a peer before WW2)

last i checked, the constitution still allowed for freedom of speech. i call that loving and living the american way. not even close to hating america.

[*]having presidential aspirations, authorises a forged document to be used (did you miss the issue of the fonts, daniel-san?) against his incumbent-president opponent

1) having presidential aspirations... remind how that equals hating this country again? jeez.

2) the fonts thingie... yeah, sure, he made that up on his own typewriter. if you believe that, you will believe that W made up the swiftboat thng hisself.

look, in this republic it is ok to have differing opinion w/o having to hate the country.

The active-duty Army exceeded its 2006 goal of 80,000 recruits by 635 after missing by almost 7,000 its 2005 target, which also was 80,000. The Army improved its fortunes by using more recruiters and offering richer enlistment bonuses, but also took steps some experts believe could undermine the quality of the force.

About 13,600 regular Army recruits -- 17 percent -- were accepted with waivers for past criminal conduct, drug or alcohol abuse or medical issues such as obesity. That compares to 11,018 such waivers last year, and 7,640 in 2001.

The Army said most recruits given "moral character" waivers had committed misdemeanors. It said it does not grant waivers for violent sex crimes or drug dealing.

HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMAS

Only 81 percent of new Army recruits had a high school diploma, lagging a goal of 90 percent, said Maj. Gen. Thomas Bostick, Army Recruiting Command chief. Last year, 87 percent of recruits had a high school diploma.

The Army accepted 2,650 recruits who scored in the lowest permissible category -- from the 10th to 30th percentile -- in a standardized aptitude test. The Army last year doubled the percentage of recruits it is willing to accept from this category.

Reuters - Oct 10, 2006

ETA: Regardless of the above which seems to support a claim that the overall quality of the recruits is dropping, I don't agree with Kerry making the comment he made. The folks enlisting in the service deserve our respect whether they have high school diplomas or not.

Regardless of what what you think of John Kerry (my own feelings are mixed) I can't see how people are so willing to give Bush (or Cheney or Rove or Tony Snow) a free pass -- this is someone who did not serve whose campaign has maligned the military records of 2 people who did (Kerry and McCain) for his own political gain

I see, if you dont condem Bush your giving him a pass? You wont find a post from me saying Bush is perfect. But before anyone goes on the warpath on Bush one should ask themselves if they could do better.

Kerry has already accused our guys and gals in Iraq of being women and child killers!

An account from a BBC blogger.

As the president was telling the good people of Texas that the Democrats did not want to win in Iraq, his former rival was in California insulting the troops.

Or so Mr Bush and his spokesman would have us believe. And when you review Mr Kerry’s comment, it’s hard to argue:

"You know, education, if you make the most of it, you study hard, you do your homework and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. If you don't, you get stuck in Iraq," he said, eliciting chuckles from the students.

The president demanded an apology, and some furious military bloggers also pounced, calling Mr Kerry a disgrace.

Senator Kerry came out swinging in response, saying he had botched a joke aimed at the president - and that he would apologise to no-one for his criticism. But his tough talk reminded me of an old political maxim: If you're explaining, you're losing.

John Kerry clearly thinks he is going to run for president again in 2008. If he doesn’t have jokes funnier than this, he's going to lose again. And in the meantime, he's not doing his party any favours this year.

Man is made by his belief. As he believes, so he is.

And this surprises anyone here? He's long since proven himself to be a traitor; one that whose constant berating of our government does nothing but emolden the enemy.

This can surely be evidenced by the recent upsurge in violence in IRAQ and Afghanistan knowingly by our enemies that idiots like this guy will shoot their mouth off.....

Wow, the man (Kerry) has a politically incorrect opinion. How novel these days

Traitor seems a bit strong of a word to use though - I'd be interested to know, apart from a rather blunt amd insensitive comment to know quite how exactly he is a traitor.

Wow, the man (Kerry) has a politically incorrect opinion.

What opinion? He himself claims he was merely trying to joke about the Presidents lack of intellect and botched the delivery. Now he's on video sounding like he's calling the troops retards.

Even he doesn't claim he was trying to express an opinion. Just deliver a joke. And the fool couldn't even do that right.

To be fair, though, it ain't as bad as botching an entire war.
