Starting the k1 process

Hi everyone. I've been checking out the posts on this site for a while and I'm starting the K1 process. I've read the faq's but I have a few questions. For the evidence of ongoing relationship do I have to have my fiancee's letters translated into english. She is Polish and I can understand when she writes to me and speaks to me. If I need to translate for the USCIS side of the petition do I also need to get traslations into English when it goes into the the consulate stage? As far as my fiancee is concerned what exactly does she need to have translated into English? I'm just so anxinous to see her as soon as possible again and want everything to go as smoothly as possible without any RFE's. I've been hopeful seeing other people going through Vermont and getting their visas in four months that I want to get everything right the first time. Any help is appreciated. Once I send in the 129f I will update my timeline. Thanks.

You must translate any official documents that your fiancee provides as required by the USCIS regulations. As far as letters, I don't think that is necessary except that you will be using these as documentation of a relationship. If you have the ability to read her email in Polish, then attach an explanation of this ability. You can mention that translations can be provided if necessary. What you want to show is a continuous flow of correspondence between the two of you.

She will need translations for birth certificates, divorce decrees, police certifications, etc. You might find it helpful to also obtain certified translations of health records, medical innoculations, education and anything else that might be helpful in the future.

Make sure you do not confuse the two phases of the process and the evidence required...

USCIS: You need to demonstrate meeting within the last two years. All documents that are submitted that are not in english need to be translated. E-mails as such do not demonstrate meeting in person so I would not include that kind of evidence with the petition. Meeting evidence would be photos, passport stamps, ATM withdrawals in her city, etc....

Consulate: Evidence of an ongoing relationship post petition. How have you kept in touch since you filed your petition. This could be a post petition visit (with the above type evidence), e-mails, chat logs, phone records. Your consulate in Warsaw will stipulate exactly how they want the evidence presented and what should be translated.

What you have to do is translate each email, each letter/card you have that is not in English. I did this for my I-129f. I communicate with Lukasz in both polish & english so I translated everything into English. I found on the USCIS website that you can be the translator (dont have to pay someone else to do it). On the bottom of the page with the translation from Polish to English, you have to state the following & sign it.

When you arrange the documents, first place the copy of the email/letter as it was originally written, then the following page should be the translation.

I, YOUR NAME, certify that I am fluent (conversant) in the English and Polish languages, and that the above/attached document is an accurate translation of the letter preceding this document, as arranged in this submission packet.

To my knowledge you do not need the translation of birth certificate or police records to file the I-129F. That is probably required later in the process.

Why are you sending e-mails with your original petition? How does this demonstrate that you have met your fiancee within the last two years?

I believe you will need to translate the BC but it is required later. However there have been recent RFE's for the beneficiary's BC eventhough it is not specifically required with the petition.
