Translation services ???? Online ones are good ?

Hello everyone.

Quick question on translation services.

Have you used some of these online translation services ? They charge about $ 27.00 to $ 29.00 per page, others much more.

You upload the doc, and they send it on the next day or so. Some do email only, and others send them via regular mail, which is what NVC needs, can you confirm ?

There is also the question about certification of the translation, an extra $ 5.00 per doc. And isn't there something they have to write on the translation, such as they are certified translators, or something like that ?

Translation services are WAY TOO EXPENSIVE back in Brazil, and I can do it for half the price here, and get them back much faster.

Any advice on that ?

Cheers,

H&L

humm, not sure why this topic was moved to off-topic, as it relates SPECIFICALLY to my NVC DS-230 application.

I am NOT asking for a particular service, but whether I SHOULD use it or not. I have the choice to use the one I used before in Brazil, but I am looking for a cheaper, faster alternative.

So, DO NOT RECOMEND any one of them, just answer the question below :-)

- can I use it if they give me a translation via email, or should it be via regular mail,

- Do the translations have to be certified or not ?

- Do they have to state something specifically on the translation, such as they are competent, or something like that ? I think I read that somewhere.

So, that is all I am looking for.

Thanks

H&L

Thanks a lot a Charles.

Now, any idea if I need to certify the docs ? Do I need them send via regular mail ? email is fine ?

THat will be a much faster/cheaper option, but I do not want to screw up here, as the DS-230 depends on it ;-)

If you are fluent in both languages you can translate them yourself and attach the certification Charles mentioned

I'm just going to jump in here and tell you to pay the extra money and have your documents translated. I am fluent in both languages, hold a Masters Degree in the 2nd language and teach it, and yet I still got a RFE to have things done by a "certified" translator. Needless to say, USCIS is very vague, save yourself the time and have someone else do it.

You could go through Fox Translate or Language Oasis, both are pretty good. Just google them.

Good luck!

Wow! That is really strange. I translated all my documents without a problem. Did you attach the document of "certified translation" with your papers? I have seen many people do their own translations with no RFE.

Yes sent I copied/filled in my info from the certificate listed on the USCIS website and put it with every single document. The weird thing is that they only wanted a few documents "certified" translated, not all of them. Just another example of the lack of standardization at USCIS.

When we applied for my AOS we had to translate my birth certificate.

We found USCTS online and ordered it. It was fast and accurate.

I always recommend them to everybody because they are really good.

Here is their website:

Fox Translate sent me a translation of my birth certificate with a wrong Mother's name. The worse is that this had not to be translated for it is a name! Be careful and be sure to check every word.
