Your medical is only valid for 6 months when you apply for adjustment of status - so if you apply for adjustment of status more than 6 months after your medical, you will have to have an entirely new medical in the USA which can cost a lot. If you have certain conditions as a history (eg: Tuberculosis), it's only valid for 3 months.

Also depending on the embassy/consulate you might need to have even more current for your visa interview. I would recommend contacting the consulate that you will be dealing with and asking them. I had my medical a month before my interview for Vancouver and that was fine.

June 30, 2015 - 10 year greencard in hand

January 25, 2016 - N400 Application Mailed

May 11, 2016 - Citizenship Interview + same-day Oath ceremony!
