Hello Everyone,

I am newly registered at Visa Journey, but I have been on the website for the past few months. I finally decided to register because I am getting so sad/depressed and I feel like this is definitely a community of people who can understand where I'm coming from. So this is ultimetly the best place to get this off my chest.

I understand that my husband and I are at the beginning of our "visa journey" (K3 received 8/20/2012, visa pending) and we have a long way to go (from what I hear and have read) and it is just getting so hard. I really want and need him here in the States with me. I completely understand that the security checks, background checks, and etc., are necessary, but he is my husband, why do I have to wait so long to be with the man that I love??? I just feel that in itself is violating me as a US citizen - making me wait to live in the States with my husband.

We talk everyday, all day, unless one of us is asleep, and even that is becoming more difficult; because I just want to jump through the phone and be back in his arms. I have a very comfortable bluetooth and we are on it all of the time. Even when I am doing simple things such as: cleaning, laundry, cooking, eating, watching tv, tending to the children, grocery shopping, etc.. you name it, we've done it while on the phone. He says it makes him feel like he is here, in the house with us :) . But I'm not going to go into the "mushy" stuff, I'm sure you guys do the same.

In a sense, I feel as though my life has been placed on-hold because I do not want to make any decisions without him. Even though I am registered to receive text messages and email alerts from USCIS, I compulsively check their website daily (sometimes multiple times a day, just in case) to see if there have been any changes.

SO ANYWAYS, what I am really looking for are some suggestions. What are some things that you guys have done to try and help the time go by faster? What have you done to get your mind off of the long wait, even if only for a day? I wish that I could just go to Egypt and wait there with him, but I can't because I have young children in school - so that's out of the question. And I'm not really sure when I can visit him again as my job only allows 1 person per department off during the holidays and my co-workers have all chosen days off for the remaining holidays in 2012! I am just so frustrated!

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

This is the path you chose. To marry a foreigner... We must jump through hopes for many many months in order to live a normal american life together. You will need to develop patience. You will be waiting 10 months to 2 years for him to enter the usa. He may have AP after the interview and that may take weeks or a year.

It will be very hard. Both your patience will be tested.

Please know there are good reasons for the usa to be so thorough in this process. We must protect the usa and they are protecting the american wives or husbands.

In the middle east we have to worry about fraud from younger males who just use us for a free ride to the USA. This is common. It is not rare or our government would not have to put us through this.

Everyone is safer because of this process.

Good Luck

I hope you are studying what is required at NVC cause being prepared with all those documents will save you a couple months

Start reading LingChis shortcuts. Most of the information is pertainant...except the making your own bar coded sheets. Now NVC makes them immediately printable.

I got though NVC in 13 days some people takes 6 months. Most people take 2 months

Just keep yourself busy and study up on this process and especially AP after the interview. I think at least 66% of the men from Egypt get Ap and some people say 90%

May 24, 2011 NOA1

Sept 11, 2011 NOA2-took 19 days to get case number

Sept 30, 2011 NVC number and IIN received Friday-gotta wait till Monday

Oct 13, 2011 Case Completed- 13 days from receiving case number Took 32 days from NOA2

Nov 30, 2011 Notified of Interview date

January 19, 2012 Interview- 240 days from NOA1

INTERVIEW RESULTS-APPROVED WITH 14 WEEKS AP--but he got his visa in 56 days!!!!!!

PLEASE EDIT YOUR TIMELINE IN YOUR PROFILE SO OTHERS CAN LEARN HOW LONG EACH STEP TAKES IN THIS PROCESS

Hi. Thank you so much for your reply and suggestion. I searched the web for your suggestion and it brought me to the LingChe NVC Shortcuts on this site... Haha... I am learning that this website has so much to offer. I will start reading through it tomorrow. Anything constructive that will keep my mind occupied is appreciated. Thanks again for taking the time to reply.

I know that it is hard. We all do. My husband has the same frustration as you (he is the USC) He doesn't understand how his service record and current employment isn't speeding the process along either. I just tell him, well it's the people who abuse the system that make it harder on the ones who are honest. Unlike you we can visit each other every couple of months though, so my heart goes out to you with the lack of "touch" that is a lot more important than you ever realize.

The only things you guys can do is make sure you have planned for every stage and have everything filled out, ready to go, interview ready and he is willing to move as soon as he can. For you, personally, I know it's so very hard, but it's good to get out of the house occasionally and spend time with friends. Even taking your kids to the park, to go swimming, or someplace new makes time go by faster. You both just have to keep busy, be prepared, and have patience. One day this will all be a distant memory. My cousin wrote in the card he gave to my husband and I at our wedding "What is one year in a lifetime?" It's really true. These are hard times, but they get better, and in the long term scheme of things, they're just a blip on the radar map. I wish you the best!

Hi NikiR, thank you for your response and suggestions. I was starting to feel as though I was the only one feeling this way. I will keep that quote with me: "what is one year in a lifetime?" I like that - it really 'sums' things up. Thank you. I wish you guys the best of luck too.
