My husband had an 8-month old personal copy of his NBI clearance during his F2B interview and didn't have any problems with it.

However, if you don't feel confident having an old NBI clearance, you can always get a new one.

The original you submitted to NVC will be in the file when you interview. If it was issued recently, no worries.

It appears valid for 1 year. As always, recent clearance is better but heres a link:

Your question is a good one and a concern I'm sure. Just pay attention to the dates from the last clearance and the date of the interview.

It didn't say if original or copy only but it's required. Something like that USEM requires originals.

Just go ahead get another one just on the safe side, it only takes few days anyways. You could also get it online now.

Thank you for the links but I believe that NBI online is only for Manila people or anyone residing near Manila. I am in Cebu so I need to endure the long lines again, I should have gotten two copies when I went last time but all of you are correct, I should just get a newer one although I still have my personal copy from 2 months ago. :)

If you have one two months old, there is NO NEED to get a newer one.

Oh ok, just do a walk-in to your nearest NBI office then. It will take only 10 days or even less since they've issued one before already.

If you're into belt AND suspenders, OK. A new one is not needed. The one submitted was issued only two months ago.

Nothing wrong with having everything with you certified and recently issued.

They often ask for information that they should already have on file from the NVC.

The original you submitted to NVC will be in the file when you interview. If it was issued recently, no worries.

echo !

NVC DOC INTAKE handles all this stuff.

Those docs make it to the IV Unit at the US Embassy in Manila,

and are available inside of the casefile,

which is sorta important, as the Consular Officer will review the casefile prior to the interview day.

K-1 visa chasers and DCF'd Immigrant Visa folk don't play with NVC, so for these OTHER visa thingies, there IS a requirement to hand over the original on interview day.

The original is already inside the casefile by interview day, as NVC got it already, prior and that doc travelled with the rest of the docs.

No need to fret that.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Just an update for this question: I didn't get a new NBI. It was fine, they didn't ask for my personal copy but just bring it just in case NVC lost it.
