Hello everyone - I can't tell you how grateful I am that this community is here -

I haven't finished reading all of the FAQs and Guides and examples and what all, but this is a weird question so maybe it is not covered elsewhere. Her laptop is in the Toshiba Service Center in Moscow and has been for over a month ("waiting for a part to arrive") so she is limited to visiting her home town's internet cafe (which unfortunately leaves a lot to be desired). I was just emailing her the Moscow Embassy Info and saw that one may get a list of all VisaJourney members who are from Russia (including email info). Actually I have two questions: 1. would it be all right for her, a non-member, to email anyone who lists his or her email info this way, and 2. if she has to be a member first, would it be all right if I created an account for her to save her a few steps, a few minutes, and a few rubles?

And now our introduction:

I recently visited her and I created a webpage with my photos and memories of the trip. I tried to keep it interesting (and short!) and tasteful. She really enjoyed it and my two friends who have looked at it so far liked it a lot as well. If you have a few minutes take a look at it, I hope you will enjoy it also.

Copied and pasted from this page:

My name is Ross Starkey. I live in New York and (despite my having majored in History and (later) earning a BA in Geography and Urban Planning) I used to be a computer and network support geek; but in 2002 (because work was getting harder and harder to find) I decided to change careers. In 2003 I enrolled in the Borough of Manhattan Community College with the goal of becoming a Registered Nurse. I studied with the same group of students for two years but I am a very private person and only one of them was able to get to know me, a Russian immigrant named Alex. Alex introduced me to Diana in the summer of 2005. Diana (who holds five-year degrees in Romance and Germanic Philology, and Economics) had been watching Sex and the City reruns :-) in her home in Almetyevsk (near Kazan) which made her want to chat (in an internet chat room) with a New York resident, which is how she met Alex. They chatted and Alex described me to her and suggested she write to me, which she did - late in the afternoon of August 7th (but it was early in the morning of August 8th for her). I replied several hours later.

We clicked from the very start. It only took us a few days and we were using Microsoft Messenger to talk, or to chat (with video) for hours every day. Over many hundreds of hours, we got to know one another. We had so many similarities and so much in common that we had an almost empathic understanding of each other. There is a Russian saying, "Two boots make a pair." Diana and I are two boots.

On September 5th we professed our love for one another. Soon I was making plans to visit her in Russia. We were together from January 19th to February 7th, during the coldest Russian Winter in a long time. It was the best time of our lives and we became engaged. We decided that she would join me in New York and we are currently starting the process of getting her a K1 Visa so she can join me here and we can get married.

Welcome to VJ! That was a great intro... nice pics, too!

I think it's possible for you to create an account for her by using her email address.

I can't answer the other question about emailing members, though. Maybe someone else can help you with that question. I'm also new here.

Welcome to VJ, thanks for sharing your story! I can't see a problem with emailing members if they've shared their emails.....most people here are eager to help anyways :) I also don't think it's a problem if you set up her an account, James set this one up and we share it (but I do most of the posting). Good luck on your visa journey! :)

Welcome to VJ and good luck!

Like others have said I see no problem with you setting up an account. In fact to simplify things you could always share your account. I set this one up for both of us and sent James the username and password. He has only used the guide part of the site, but the account is really for us both.
