Me too... It is usually muslims who want to convert people, rarely the contrary... Don't marry or get engaged to someone you have never lived with...

Obviously you haven't met some American Christians.

Also, I don't think you need to live with someone before getting married/engaged. I actually think that creates a lot of problems. For us, we got engaged before living together and married about a month after living together. I only waited to get married because I wanted to be very very sure. It worked out just fine for us, so I don't think such blanket statements are really necessary.

Zarhasalem: you didn't get my point here. First of all i am not a believer so whatever religion i don't like. I am just telling you what i have noticed, in my country especially (where in some parts there is a high muslim population).

And the difference to me with the cultures you quote is that they remain between each other and don't mix to the others, and especially they are not trying to force us to deal with their "not adapting to the culture". I just personally feel it is offensive when a woman walks next to me covered from head to toes or when it is ramadan in some places with high muslim population stores have to close earlier (in a foreign country. So glad it was all prohibited in my country. So i have no hate of muslims, i have a few muslim friends who are well adapting, who are fine and they agree with me (they are ashamed of these people who give a bad image of them). And of course it doesn't apply to the whole population, but i just says that it applies more to muslims than others.... my opinion.

My God, the hypocrisy! I'm not religious but who cares what people wear or what religion others have?! It's incredible you would be so offended by what others do, and demand that they be like you!

I find it very interesting, especially in a big city where there are enclaves of German, Indian, Mexican, Chinese, etc. to see the variety snd sample the foods, admire the architecture, the dress, and open your mind to other ways of doing things.

Fear of the unfamiliar is usually at the base of this kind of loathing you have. Having Muslim friends, neighbors, and family removes that fear and lets you see they are no different from anyone else.

I apologize to the Muslims here. This country does have people who are intolerant and want to convert you to their way of living/thinking. But the law protects you. Dress as you like. Believe as you like. Associate with whomever you like. Welcome to America.
