Hello again, VJ!

While this topic won't apply in our case for some time, I thought it'd be nice to know what to expect.

If anyone has any experience with this, please leave a reply. :)

I was wondering how much time is needed, on average, for the Port of Entry when one's spouse first arrives in the USA.

In our case, the flight will arrive in one of the following for a layover:

Chicago, IL (ORD)

Los Angeles, CA (LAX)

New York City, NY (JFK)

Detroit, MI (DTW)

Dallas, TX (DFW)

I'm hoping to find an average for the time needed so I can book the flight accordingly (choosing longer or shorter layovers depending).

June 16, 2011: Met online (Skype) for the first time.
July 27, 2011: Officially a couple/engaged.
March 19, 2012: Met in-person for the first time.
March 23, 2012: Wedding!

April 5, 2013 - IV invoiced & paid online
April 9, 2013 - IV fee shows PAID - IV pack mailed
April 22, 2013 - NVC case complete

October 28, 2013 - Interview date - "Administrative Processing"

November 7, 2013 - Return to U.S. Embassy of Phnom Penh - "Administrative Processing"

November 19, 2013 - Return to U.S. Embassy of Phnom Penh

November 22, 2013 - Visa Issued

November 26, 2013 - Arrival in the United States of America

December 31, 2014 - Permanent Residence Card (Green Card) issued

July 18, 2015 - First child due!

July 27, 2015 - Baby girl is born!

November 17, 2015 - Biometrics complete

this may be overkill but i would allow atleast 2 hours maybe 3 depending on which airpot is poe ...its better to have to much time as to missing your next flight...

I personally like the idea of meeting your SO at the POE airport, spend the night together, maybe see the sights of the city and then fly to the home destination at a later date. That eliminates the need to rush thru the POE. Just a thought.

January 28, 2014: Production of new Green Card ordered

February 3, 2014: New Green Card received; done with USCIS until fall of 2023*

December 18, 2023:  Filed I-90 to renew Green Card

December 21, 2023:  Production of new Green Card ordered - will be seeing USCIS again every 10 years for renewal

I would say always allow at least 2 hours regardless of the airport. ###### happens.

Adjustment of Status from H-1B, Family-Based
07/26/2012 - 10/18/2012: 85 Days from Application Received to GC Received.
Removal of Conditions
07/22/2014 - 11/14/2014: 116 Days from Application Received to GC Received.
Naturalization
02/03/2016 - 05/31/2016 : 119 Days from Application Received to Oath Ceremony.

I am a United States citizen!
