Sharpen your pencil and do the basic math and you will see, by the time the Right ditches the Religious-Right... they will no longer have enough votes to win the White house, ever again.

There are two growing classes which will soon insure a big-Gov victory in every Presidential election.

-Those working for Gov't (directly or indirectly) and those depending on Gov.

- Minorities -They vote for more Government at a Much larger percentage, the more we import the harder it becomes to win election.

And you think Victory days are ahead for the GOP when they are finally free from the "foot soldiers" and it's largest block of support? (those whose faith guides their vote.)

Imagine for 2 scary minutes we are two terms down the road and just the State of texas alone with 38 electoral votes has hit the tipping point of minority voters as California has already.

(right now 60% +/- of students in TX are minorities, in eight years they will be voting age).

How in the world do you ever think you would have enough electoral votes to put even the most centrist GOP candidate in?

I think there are a lot of people in the middle that choose to go Democratic because they can't stomach the social agenda of the right. You read as such from one person in this thread... I don't think there will be a choice - we bring in one million people to this country every year now and they are going to lean heavily left. My wife has no clue at this point about republicans/democrats/right/left she just knows I am supposed to vote for Obama. She is part of the fastest growing group in this country and that is the current state of thinking for that group.. A more palatable social agenda coupled with a more responsible government is a good message.. I don't know that it would be enough. I know I would feel better :) The religious right eventually will turn more people away than it brings in..

Sounds like what you are counting on is that people will begin "vote against their interest" once the Religious Right declines in sufficient numbers.

Remember - Two growing demographics

Minorities- which in greater numbers enjoy the benefits of Gov't generosity

THose whose sustenance comes from Gov. employment, contracts and welfare.

Lets look at it in picture as it is today.

What percentage of each demographic is Romney getting support from?

Take note of which groups he breaks even or better on.

Still not a believer?, you will be within 2 more election cycles.

People vote against their interests now.. It does not matter if you have 100% of the religious right if they continually alienate a segment of the population that is growing faster than they are that may otherwise be willing to listen. Also for each of the extremist you dump you lose on average maybe one vote (they don't switch to the other side, they simply don't vote) whereas you get a two-fer on the other side: they change sides.

As I said the numbers may not be there yet..

Nice chart. Did you know that some would consider it racism to assume if you are Romney supporter you are not black.. They suck at math. :)
