Ok I just looked and it says they were processing I485s from May 23, 2012 on Sept. 30. That puts them about a month behind us a month ago. Frustrating.

I know, it sucks to wait. I was a month behind everyone else when we filed and it also scared me. But it's meaningless. In your case, maybe they haven;t been able to schedule any new cases and it's still at May 23. Once it's over, you will forget and that will be that. At least you are together and have EAD/AP and can live normally. Good luck.

If it wasn't for another $1500 to start over I would say go for it...this way, stay at home, watch TV with popcorn in your hand...or start putting out those 5000 pieces of puzzle...by the time you finish that not only will you have your green card, but already will be thinking of what to write up in your will to your great grand children. LOL :)

To avoid the stress were both going through waiting, paying another $1500 seems a small price to pay!!

There is absolutely NO reason to have stress. You said yourself that the office has been processing cases at around 7 months (Early March to late Sept). Get used to waiting. ROC is taking about 9 months (your next step in 2 years).

I don't know...to me paying again $1500 isn't small...especially that even if it is a long period of time to wait, so far you have not gotten a complete proof of denial over the mail...so, paying again $1500 and start all over again to me seems senseless and EXPENSIVE. Anyway, at the end of the day, the decision is yours!

Good luck!

Um, but you wouldn't pay $1500 again anyway. You can't move states and start over. You can file a change of address and your file will be delayed more, and maybe in the same amount of time or slower, you'd get an interview. Add to that the costs of moving.

If you guys want to have poor mental health over this, then go right ahead. If the processing times says 7 months and someone is sad that their file is not ready by 4 months, then I don't know what to say. They should expect it at 7 months and get on with their lives. I know it's hard to wait, but there is nothing to be done now, and everything will be, and is, fine and normal.

I won't respond further - didn't mean to rain on the needless worry parade.

Harpa:

Seems like you and I are on the same page on this. That's exactly why I wrote to the poster that I would not start over if I were them. I was not trying to argue, I just told them why I feel starting over is not a good idea. Anyway, it is their choice, I just shared my opinion why I wouldn't start over in their case...:) All the best to everyone!

I wish it said the processing time was 7 months. However, as I said above...it stated they are processing from March 2011. So a year and 7 months :(

Woah, you are looking at the wrong thing. Not that it really matters, because everything is fine, and you will see soon that all this worry is needless. I know it's hard to see that but it really is.

Where is your local office?

Once you find the right office, then if it is beyond the stated processing time you can request some action be taken on your case.

You find the part on the USCIS website that lets you look at field offices and choose yours. I didn't see San Fernando on the list though. It will then give you the expected processing times for the forms they accept there: USCIS processing times

Mine was well off though. It said Atlanta was working on May 11th, then I got my interview date the next day. The data is sometimes a little behind, sometimes up to 2 months behind. ALIA raised in a recent roundtable with USCIS - seems it is a constant bone of contention between them.

Take Harpa's advise and relax. Most office say that you need to wait 4 months (120 days) before you can do anything as that tends to be the usual lead time on processing the I-485. Most people living in CA acknowledge that the 4 months can usually be a little longer, just one of those regional variances - maybe there are a lot of applicants going through the CA offices?

11/29/12 - AOS Interview in Atlanta - 10 minutes long and approved on the spot.

ROC in 2014!

There is a local office locator on the USCIS website. You put in your zip code and they tell you your Field office. Then once you have that go to processing times and look up your local field office for the time of the I-485. Let us know.
