I just entered into the US on a K3 visa and we are looking to start the AOS process right away. However I am a little confused about the medical. I obviously had the medical when i was in London prior to my interview but do i now have to go and have another one?

I have my vaccination sheet that the medical sent me and my xray so is that enough or do i have to go to a doctor and have it all done again?

Ive read that if i have the vaccination records all i need to do is get a doctor to sign off saying its correct. However do i have to pay for this or is it a question of just making an appointment?

If someone could explain this i would appreciate it.....Thanks :)

6.2.2)....Will I need to take another medical exam since the medical report is only good for one year??

A...In most cases, no. The results of your K1/K2 medical were in the "sealed envelope" that you brought with you from your home country. The I-485 instructions mention that no additional medical is required if filing for AOS within a year of the medical required to obtain the K1/K2. You should simply send in a copy of the I693A (sheet that lists your vaccinations) that your doctor should have provided overseas when you had your medical. And...according to a newsgroup posting...."Went up to the local USCIS (INS) office in Omaha today and they told me that the letter saying "Adjustment of Status / I130 Interview" is just a form letter they send out whether you've applied under a I485 OR a I130.... They also told me that, despite what the letter says, I do NOT need to get another medical done even though its been more than 12 months since my K1 medical at the London Embassy."

The FAQ is worded for K-1 but the same applies to K-3

Note: You can also read Section 6.0, because Section 14.0 only contains specific K3/K4 information, whereas Section 6.0 has much more in the way of general AOS info as well.

your medical from london is good for 1 year.. so make sure you file before that expires.

the vaccination supplement you are talking about from a CS here in the States, is the I693..... yes you can take your one from your original medical and they will basically copy it over, if you have had all the shots... or give you what you are missing if any... there is a fee and can be anywhere from $10 up (the one in my area wants $75 - rip off artist but the next cs is a 2 hour drive away) Do not let them try to bully you into getting a full medical that is not necessary but alot seem to try anyway...

Now that said... when I applied I just included a copy of original medical and vaccination supplement, as I have had the full set of shots... I have not supplied the I693. I have not yet received an RFE for it but I could still be asked for it even at interview... Some people get asked for it and some dont, but Im going to try and save that bit of cash.

Good luck...

Ok the only form i have is the sheet the medical people sent me back which lists my vaccinations on it. On it is says for use with DS-2053 on it no mention of the 1693a form. Or is that what i would get a doctor here to fill out?

I also dont have a copy of my actual medical notes which was included in the "mystery packet" i handed over at POE, but im guessing they have access to this.

I know im up to date with all my vaccinations because i just had the medical last month so really this DS-2053 form should be enough and i dont need to send in the 1693 form?

Sorry if i sound dumb but I went from knowing everything about my K3 process to once again feeling totally overwhelmed by all this.

LOL no problems...

The I693 is the vaccination supplement from the civil surgeon here in the states...

you can do either of 2 things.... go to one and get them to fill out your I693a form and thereby not get an RFE... or

like I and quite a few others who have had the complete serious of vaccinations just send in the vacc form from our original medicals....and thereby may or may not get an RFE...

Since your medical is within one year you should be alright, although I did have several copies of mine and sent one with my packet... you might want to see if you can get a full copy of your medical from just in case... if you start that ball rolling and if USCIS has lost your brown package at least you will have it or have it on its way to you...

Can we download the vaccinaton form from the USCIS website for the civil surgeon to fill it out? Or do we have to take to one the immigration civil surgeons?
