Hi everyone. I am a newbie here.. So my husband is an American citizen and he petitioned me last March 26, 2012 and until now I am not yet approved its been 7 months already.. We sent a congressional inquiry last Sept 28, 2012 and it did not helped instead this is what they replied thru email to us:

“U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) is committed to adjudicating immigration benefits in a timely and efficient manner to ensure public safety and national security.

“USCIS requires extensive background checks for every application or petition. While background checks for most applications or petitions are completed quickly, a small percentage of cases involve unresolved background check issues that result in adjudication delays.

“Background checks involve more than just the initial submission for a response related to biographical information and fingerprints. Further inquiry is needed when checks and/or a review of an administrative record reveal an issue potentially impacting an applicant's eligibility for the requested immigration benefit. The inquiry may include an additional interview and/or the need to contact another agency for updates or more comprehensive information. If it is determined that an outside agency possesses relevant information about a case, USCIS requests such information for review. Upon gathering and assessing all available information, USCIS then adjudicates the application or petition as expeditiously as possible.

“We have checked into your constituent's case and have been assured that USCIS is aware of your inquiry, and is monitoring progress related to it. However, unresolved issues in your constituent's case require a thorough review before a decision can be rendered.

“Unfortunately, we cannot speculate as to when this review process will be completed.

“We realize that your constituent may feel frustrated by delays related to his or her case. USCIS must weigh individual inconvenience against the broader concerns of public safety and national security”.

So, I wondered if any one of you files a congressional inquiry and it worked out? and how long do I still have to wait more? I am now in the Philippines with my American citizen baby and my husband is in the states right now.. I hope to God they will approve me before Christmas., I don't want to be here without my husband.. We miss him so much..

Hang on there. I'm sure mostly here were successful after the congressional or senatorial inquiry. I'm the ill-fated ones since it's been 13 months now waiting for my NOA2 to arrive.

Anyway, i will pray that yours will arrive sooner so you and your baby can be with your hubby by Christmas..

Godbless

So did you apply same as my husband? when did you apply? have you contacted them as to what is happening to your papers? Thank you for the prayer you have a great heart...=)

My husband filed last year September 16, 2011 to be exact. We have no idea what's happening to our papers. Every people we asked help to don't have a decent answer aside from saying that "It is still in process, sorry for taking this long, blah..blah..blah". I really you will have the same fate as ours. I can wait longer anyway. It's not convenient but, if that's what it takes, then be it. You and your baby should better be there sooner, as family..

I know right,.. well they gave us SRMT service refrence number and my husband called them early this mrning from the states and told him to wait after 7 days cuz they will say something about my papers to as what is happening .. SRMT is a way to expedite the papers since doing a congressional inquiry with them did not help whatsoever.. I am so anxious everyday.. My baby needs his dad too..

The way i understood with our inquiry is that they(congressman/ senator/ombudsman) can not do anything to speed up the process since it is still at the jurisdiction of USCIS.

I felt the same way too when our application reaches to the 7th, 8th, and 9th month. Right now, i am more distraught than being anxious. Just keep hoping and praying. I'll do likewise for you.
