H1B to Green card. Help?

Hi! I came to the United States with a Student visa in High School, and then transitioned into college with the same visa. When I graduated, I got my H1B, which was approved last December. I just married my husband and we are trying to get all of the information necessary to apply for my green card. He is a US citizen through birth. There are a few questions which are kind of hard to answer and I was hoping to get some help.

1) Can I file the I-130 and I-485 simultaneously? If I can, what do I check on the I-485 as the reason why I am filling it out?

2) My husband is currently unemployed and I have been supporting our home with my job for the last 10 months. I understand that he is supposed to fill out a form in which he guarantees to support me, but he is unemployed. Can I be my own sponsor since I am here on a H1B and I have been working for the same company for over 2 years now?

Thanks so much!

Guides here: http://www.visajourn...aos-in-the-usa/

Please read the form instructions and the guides before asking questions that can be answered by either.

1. Yes you can file them simultaneously. To register status as permanent resident based on immediate visa availability = option A

2. No you cannot be your own sponsor. I'll let someone else more knowledgeable advise you on this.

Your husband needs to file the I-864 even if he makes nothing. As long as you are working legally and your job will continue when you get your green card, you can use your income as well an effectively "sponsor" yourself even though your spouse is technically the primary sponsor.

Make sure you include evidence that you are working legally, paying taxes, and a letter from your employer that your job will continue.
