No, I don't think so. Traffic police and immigration police are two very separate departments in the US. If you have passed the allowed time period to change your UK License to a Nevada License, you will most likely be issued a citation for "Driving without a Valid License"

My point is that all these issues are avoided by having a US licence, I am aware of the difference between immigration and police.

In most US States, you cannot be issued with a US drivers license until you have your greencard but you can normally obtain an International Drivers License that allows you to drive legally for 12 months with any problem. Most insurance companies accept the International License and you normally pay a higher premium. That was my case anyway. Just apply for the International License in your home country.

Well, in some ways yes. The K1 visa is an oddball limbo-thing. Technically, you're not a resident, and then again you are. I'm not going to advise anyone to lie to police officers when being asked however, it's not a lie that you aren't a resident yet.

OP, you can file AOS and EAD(and AP) as soon as you have everything gathered. See if you can do a walk-in at the county clerk's office and get the marriage certificate in hand the same day as handing in the marriage license. Takes less time. EAD is usually a maximum of 90 days. But if you have an interview within months after AOS is submitted, you might not get EAD before greencard. I'd say 4 months is a safe bet.

Get your ssn before your i94 expires. Preferably in your maiden name first and then go back with your marriage certificate to change from maiden to married name(if changing). All of this before the i94 expires. You don't need ssn for anything in the AOS or EAD process but you do need ssn to work, and it has to be matched with the name on the EAD. When you already have ssn when you receive EAD, you can start working rightaway.
