On form I-485 to Adjust Status, we don't know how to fill in Part 1, question "Current USCIS Status". We're married. We're past the expire date of her K1 fiance visa. So her status is not K1 correct? So what is her status?

In the same section, Part 1, there is "Address-C/O". What is care/of, CO for? Does she have to put my name under C/O, and our address.

Thanks

Write in "K-1 Visa Holder" that is the current status expired or otherwise, you are filing to adjust from K-1 visa holder to LPR.

See the I-485 example form: http://www.visajourney.com/examples/INS-Form-I-485.pdf

C/O line is Care Of, leave blank unless you want someone else to receive your mail.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

Can someone explain why “C/O” Care-Of is on the I-485 form. My concern is because when we applied for her Social Security card, the postal service would not deliver the card to my address because we did not give a C/O when we applied for the card, and the post carrier not recognizing her name to be at my address, he was supposedly required to return the card to the SS administration.

Also can anyone confirm that “K1” would be the correct status to put on the I-485 form given that we are now married and the K1 visa has expired?

Thanks

eclowjpd,

I think you just explained why rather well.

'K1' will do. (When the visa expires is irrelevant, more to the point is when the allowed stay as indicated on the I-94 expires.)
