Hi all.

Just had a quick question after our AOS interview in Newark, NJ today.

We filed an immigrant visa petition for mywife, that she filed an application to adjust status, and that the interview was for my wife’s green card.

My IO was very intimidate. No laugh, no joke, no nothing which made me a lot more nervous than i was supposed to be.

everything went well, except for the last part.

She asked how long she had been unemployed? We filed that she never worked. She actually worked up until July, 2012 at her mom's nail shop which she did not receive any money.

She worked there to help her.

I think we were supposed to say she never worked, but instead, she has been unemployed since July and was working at her Mom's nail shop before; and IO wrote down everything.

At the end of the interview, she asked if we had more photos, but we already sent bunch of photos and thought we didnt need it.

So we told her that we didn't have one.

Oh, and she took my wife's Employment Authorization Card and i94 and told us to wait for the decision in the mail within 60days.

Is it normal for them too take EA card and i94 during the interview?

Also, what's next?

i'm so nervous right now..:(

It's normal that they take the I-94, yes. Concerning the EAD, the IO I had during my interview told me I could keep it for my records, or destroy it once my GC in hand. The EAD becomes obsolete once the AOS approved. I would not worry about the fact that the IO kept it.

The IO will make a decision, nothing to do but wait for it right now. This is a serious process, that's why IOs can be intimidating. Don't be nervous now, no decision has been made yet. :)

Thanks for the quick reply, but what if. what IF she was denied? or asked for the 2nd interview?

We would not have any i94 or EAD to show....

Our first interview the IO took my wife's i94 but not her EAD card and he told us that he was going to look over our case and make a decision. Our short second interview IO approved us on the spot but he didn't take my wife's EAD card either.

Be positive!!!

If your marriage is true everything will be fine. they are just doing their job. If you have a second interview, bring more photos or whatever your guys have joined after the weeding. Things happen for a reason, dont be discouraged!

Good luck and keep us posted!
