Let me just say first I apologize if this is in the wrong area, if it is feel free to move it. Now I know users on here aren't professionals but I was wondering if anyone, particularly Canadians, could answer some questions.

I'm a 20 year old Canadian female who is in school for Nursing. I do plan to one day immigrate to the U.S. whether I go from T.N. to green card or fall in love with an American, it's bound to happen. I live in Windsor which borders Detroit so I'm there a lot, that's where most of my ex-boyfriends have been from. Lately I've been really interested in the adult entertainment industry. Whatever your personal feelings, it's totally legal within the law. I just need to know:

- could it be used against me if it was ever found out that I was an escort or if I did adult filming?

- do they have a way of going into my employment history completely? such as seeing any self-employed job or any work related licenses I've ever owned? I'm always told we have privacy with that

- if I was ever to leave some employment details out, or say if I was an exotic dancer at a certain club but instead I wrote I was a waitress, do they do background checks on that?

I know it's not good to only be 75% honest but at the same time I would hate if I was doing jobs that were totally legal in both countries yet was denied because of a particular consular officer's PERSONAL views. At the same time if that's the case, I wanna know so I don't mess up my dreams, I'll just have to stay away from adult work.

is there anyone that has some knowledge of this who could help me out?

They can and will find everything out about you. Being an escort is prostitution and is not legal. An adjudicator's personal views will not impact the process; the law will. If you lie, they can ban you for misrepresentation. Where did you get the idea it's good to be honest only 75% of the time?

I know it's not good to not be 100% honest, that's my point. i said i'll have to not get involved in the adult industry if it means risking my chance of immigrating. how is ecorting illegal? you get a license for it & go about your way. are you in the states? they have that in your country too, it's definitely legal. although I heard with prostitution, there doesn't have to be a charge or conviction - if you're doing something even indirectly involving prostitution, it's enough to be under moral turpitude. so I guess escort, exotic dancer, adult fim star, all that can be used against someone?

In certain indursties although "legal" it is assumed you go over the line. Escort is one of these, although some may start out not dancing the short pole , most eventually add this feature for the extra money. In some countries being a "bar girl" is a big no no. Even if immigration would let you slip many quality men will not.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

You have to be honest 100% of the time when it comes to immigration. Escort/prostitution is illegal in the US. Immigration will find out everything about your present and past. Lie and you get a lifetime ban, plain and simple.

You titled your post Moral Turpitude, which leads me to believe you know at least what it is. In case there remains a doubt, it will result in being found inadmissible.

A conviction for a crime involving moral turpitude (CIMT) causes a person to be inadmissible to the United States under section 212(a)(2)(a)(i) of the INA (Immigration and Nationality Act).

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

No. Not in the USA. And as it is a visa to the USA you are seeking, it might be wise to stick with nursing eh?

Prostitution in the U.S. state of Nevada is notable for the fact that Nevada is the only U.S. state to allow legal prostitution, albeit only in the form of regulated brothels. Prostitution outside these licensed brothels is illegal under Nevada law. So unless you will be in Vegas in a brothel it is ILLEGAL in the US.

Yeah, and did you also see the news when two girls were found in the trunk of a car in Detroit for answering an ad for escorting. You better know what you are getting yourself into.

1. could it be used against me if it was ever found out that I was an escort or if I did adult filming?

2. do they have a way of going into my employment history completely? such as seeing any self-employed job or any work related licenses I've ever owned? I'm always told we have privacy with that

3. if I was ever to leave some employment details out, or say if I was an exotic dancer at a certain club but instead I wrote I was a waitress, do they do background checks on that?

1. Yes.

2. The government knows everything

3. if it's found out you lied at any stage of any part of any process to immigrate/get a visa, and that issue would have meant you weren't eligible then you are guilty of a misrepresentation and can be bared for life.

You know that immigration doesn't like it so you probably realise that it's not legal here (in most places) otherwise it wouldn't be an issue for immigration.

I wouldn't risk it personally. Also, given you want to be a nurse, in a position where your health is important, you could ruin THAT career if you were to be exposed to anything. You would also be exposed to the public, who could have seen any of your "work" which could result in extreme embarrassment for you either now or in later years, and could result in job loss if they believe that you damage the reputation of where you work. Your "personal life" is just that, personal. But if you start putting it out there in the public, that's where you run into issues.

While I appreciate this is of course your life and your choice, please try and see past the now, and look to the future. Kids, spouse, friends etc. Keep in private, have your fun and stay safe.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”
