I had to send in some additional information to the embassy, I had only taken my short birth certificate to the interview (didn't know I had two) so I had to get a copy of my long one and courier it in.

I since haven't heard anything about my visa or whether we have been approved.

I am due to fly out on the 30th of October and wondering whether I should change my flight or not.

Dates:

Interview 9th October

Courier picked up additional information 12th October

Flight date 30th October

Has anyone had a similar situation to this? If so how long did it take for the visa to come through?

I'm getting quite worried now because of my flight.

I'm hoping that its all just being processed and that if there was a problem with it they would have written to me about it.

I've called the embassy a few times and also the courier but no one knows anything. Apparently there is only a certain amount of information they have access to on my case so can't really tell me if we've been approved or not.

Very frustrating :(

Well, you can't really fly out without the visa, so if you don't have it by the end of the week (e.g. Friday), it's probably best to change your flight date. The time may vary, but Stu4Lee reported it took about 16 days from when the courier collected the additional information to receiving the visa/passport back: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/396024-time-between-221g-reponse-and-receipt-of-visa/page__view__findpost__p__5774526

Thank you ! I had given myself a deadline of Saturday to receive it before I change my flight. Fortunately I can change it up to 2 hours before I take the flight.

What a nightmare, we have plans for halloween and everything, I just want to get over there now :(

Thanks for the advice :)

Shame you didn't read the instructions on the Embassy website.

The certificate must contain the following:

  • Person's date of birth;

  • Names of both parents; and

  • Annotation by the appropriate authority indicating that it is an extract from the official records

.

Note
:  We will not accept the short form version of a UK birth certificate.  The certificate must list both parents'names.
