Too bad you had not found VJ before you hired a lawyer!! We did the same thing--- Huge waste of $$$$. My best advice is goto the CR-1 forum and READ the Guides--so you understand the process as believe it or not all Immigration lawyers do not. Spend time reading the guides and the steps--as no 1 cares more about the process than YOU--lawyer truly doesn't care he/she still gets paid.

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Immigrant Visa and Alien Registration Application Confirmation

Thank You

Your Immigrant Visa and Alien Registration Application form (Form DS-260) has been automatically forwarded to the National

Visa Center (NVC) and will be processed in 3 to 5 business days.

This is the email about my daughters application and mine said it had to be sent electronically which we did right away, it's really confusing I'm not sure if it means both was complete or just the one.

This is not the case complete email. This is just saying they received your DS-260.

We have reviewed the documents which you submitted in support of an application for an immigrant

visa. Please review the information listed under each applicant's name and provide any documents

which are indicated as missing or need additional information. You must submit the required

information. Failure to provide the requested information will delay your immigrant visa interview.... >>>>>>This was my email

Again, this is not the case complete email.

Right now, you are NOT waiting for an interview, but a case complete. Have you or your spouse called NVC yet? They're still open for 45 more minutes. Call ASAP. Ask specifically: "Is my AOS package accepted? Is my IV package accepted? Is my DS-260 accepted?" If yes to all, then ask: "Is my case complete?"

Yes, my husband called them today & he was told they have everything and all documents looks good they just haven't reviewed the DS-260 application yet. She said it really could be any day now but to allow up to 20 business days from the time it was sent (which was Oct 10th) and by then we should have an interview date... Thank everyone for your help :)

Alright, so it sounds like the AOS and IV packages were accepted. They just need to review and accept the DS-260. I suggest calling every single day and asking about it. Very soon, you should hear the words "case complete". Once that occurs, then your case is put into queue for an interview date to be assigned.

Packages & DS-260 accepted >>> Case complete >>> Case put into queue for interview date >>> Interview date scheduled

He was told by NVC that since it was a while ago (October 10th) When we sent out our DS-260 application that we could hear back any day now but we need to allow up to 20 business days (right now it's only been 11 business days) so it doesn't mean it does take that long, but to prepare for that. They already reviewed all the other documents we sent to them and it looked good. Another thing, for anyone waiting to get an interview November dates are all booked up and the next block is for December which is when we should be getting ours.

OK - ask the USCitizen Spouse to call into NVC every day - it's just that tight of the 'end game', for now.

Good Luck !
