one week past and no news .i hope we here sooner..is it useful to call to check?

thank you all

It depends, if you were approved but put in administrative processing (very possible for your country) then no - it will do no good to call now. Administrative processing can take a few weeks, a few months... or even longer. You can find out the status of your case by calling the DOS. If they tell you it is on AP, waiting is all you can do.

If they tell you the visa was issued... again it has only been a week so you will still need to wait.

my wife called the dos and they said we have to call the consulat where my file is

Did she ask or a status update? The DOS can only tell you the status. If it is on AP they cannot tell you for how much longer, no timeline. If your visa has been issued, they can tell you that status as well - but if it has been issued they cannot tell you when to expect it or where it is at in the delivery process. This is with the embassy. Algeria states 10 days to 2 weeks on average, so it may be you just need to wait a few more days for your country as well. :star:
