Hey guys!

I have some questions and doubts about living in the US. My visa K1 was just approved and now Im going to live in the US for years. My concerns are about how translate or somehow validate my Academic qualifications. I have my bachelor degree in Economics at a University in Spain and I need to figure it out how I can to use it in the US.

My other question is about when I have to applied for the Adjusment of Status at the Uscis I know they are gonna ask for all my vaccine since I was born, anyone knows what should I do? Any advice? I thought it might be useful to go to my doctor in Spain before leave to the USA and he can do me a certificate with all the vaccine.

Well... that´s all

I hope someone has some idea about it.

Thanks in advance!

well regarding about your bachelor, there are some companies here in the US that are specialist on translating your academic documents and make sure you are totally qualified to work as a economist here in the US. Im a psychologist and a gave them my documents and and they make an statement that my bachelor is completely legal etc etc. If you are a dr or a lawyer, as far as I know, you need to go to college and have some credits then.

with the adjustment question if you are coming here to the US with a k1 visa, you should had a medical appointment back in your home country. those results are valid for a year. In some cases, USCIS "lost" some adjustment aplicants results and they need to have a new one here in the US with civil surgeon and submit the new results in the AOS packages. There is no way to know if USCIS messed up with your medical result until you get an RFE. In my case, the dr gave me a copy of all my vaccines and I submitted that with AOS my package. I already have my EAD/AP but no interview yet and no RFE so far

When the embassy give you your visa, they also give you a package that cannot be open under any reason. this package contains all your paperwork including your medical results. When you arrive to the US, you must give your package to a immigration officer, who will opened and check everything is ok. That package stays in immigration and then is send to the USCIS. In this process, so many people had complain that they recieved and RFE asking for the medical result which they already submit, but in some point between the airport and the USCIS those results got lost.

Thank you!

Yeah, as you said, I had a medical appointment here in Spain and as far as I know everything was ok... in the embassy they put my x-ray in a sealed enveloped that along with another envoloped that they sent me and i cant open them. I hope everything stays in inmigration and then is send to the USICS, but who knows... I just dont want to have any problem after the wedding with all the papers i have to do. That´s why im gonna try to do all these things here in Spain because is free...

You can use your degree in the US right now. Unless you are seeking another degree, there is no generally no need to get your qualifications translated. You have a bachelor's degree, something easily understood here. If you just need a job, put it on your resume and that's all. In some countries you need to show the diploma to get a job, but not here; the US is pretty honest and there are strict penalties for lying, so they will take your word for it.

AOS for my husband
8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!
