Removing Conditions

Hi its been awhile since I last visited Visa Journey.......we've been members for some time now but after getting married and going through a fairly easy process during the K-1.......then a horrific AOS process.....everything just seems fast forwarded from that point.

Here we are approaching our 2nd anniversary to our marriage and Im alittle confused on what exactly we need to be doing to have the conditions removed from my husband. Normally we stay on top of anything to do with the INS but since we had soooo much problems with the service centers losing all my husbands orginial paperwork.......we kindof filed dealing with the INS away in a file with all the paperwork we have just to avoid it LOL....guess we needed a good break from service centers after the bad experience during our AOS.

Anyway......can anyone please explain in "simple terms" lol exactly when you are supposed to be filing to have your conditions removed. Ive heard several things.......just before your 90 wedding anniversary date or 90 days before your date of conditional status.

My husbands green card does not expire until Jan 2008 and our wedding anniversary is coming up soon so Im alittle confused with all these dates floating around my head.

Can anyone clear me up a bit or kindof guide me in the right condition so I can get on the ball.....

Thanks in advance

Once you've gotten a conditional Green Card, your wedding anniversary doesn't have anything to do with any more immigration deadlines. The relevant window opens 90 days before the expiration of the conditional green card, and the window closes on the GC expiration date.

However, something doesn't quite make sense. Looking at the timeline in your signature, it says he got his green card in 5/20/2005, which should mean it will expire on 5/20/2007. Conditional LPR status lasts two years, according to the law. But you say it expires in Jan of 2008.

I also see some lost paperwork things in there, so maybe that has something to do with the discrepancy. It doesn't really matter for the rest of us, but just double check so that YOU are clear about the date when they say he got status, and the date when they say his status expires. You don't want to let that deadline pass without filing the I-751 for removal of conditions.
