Hi guys

Quick story introduction:

  1. We met online around 10 years ago.
  2. He came to visit me in Malaysia in 2008 for three months - Nov until Dec 2009
  3. I came to visit him in the US in 2009 for 6 months - May until Oct 2009
  4. I came to visit him in the US again for 3 weeks - 10/Oct/2012 until 2/Nov/2012 (I'm still here in the US with him as I'm typing this)

So I'm just wondering, for our declaration on how we've met, should I include the part where we've met in 2008 and 2009 as well? I mean the whole reason why I'm here in the US again is to fix the requirement of having to meet within the last 2 years.

But if I don't include those years and only include my visit now (10/oct/2012 - 2/nov/2012), doesn't that look...um, slightly suspicious?

I was thinking of including all those timeline and explain the reason why I'm here again.

What say you?

thanks!

I hope they don't ask me how my wife and I met. Neither of us know. It was probably on the internet, but we're unsure when. I was dating someone else at the time and we were just friends.

I surely hope so too!

I was just estimating the time range on when we met online, it was sooo long ago we both forgot how long it has been!

So for my declaration of how we've met in person, I think this should be enough:

"I met my fiancee Alia **** in Malaysia in 2008. We then met 2 more times during 2009 and 2012"

...wait it is enough?

Say that it was in 2012 that you decided to get married and then show evidence of your last ie 2012 meeting with photocopies of flight tickets/stubbs, passport stamps, and a few photos of the two of you together.

This is a two part question. They want to know the story of how you met and established a relationship. For example: i was visitng a friend and we went out and I saw him at the park and we started talking, and have been talking every since. You can mention here how he proposed also. Keep it to one page as a seperate sheet. Make sure to label the page.

Have you met in the past two years, you can include that you met on those dates, you mentioned, and the last time was in October .....

It's not a declaration of how you met but when you met, within the last two years. Document this present meeting.

I wrote very briefly that my husband and I met online and that we kept in touch for 5 years, via email, phone calls and letters. We also visited each other during those five years before we got married (included dates of visit). I also included the time we seriously decided to get married and why we couldn't do it earlier (husband was deployed) and talked abt the wedding a bit.

Alia, when you went to the US for 6 months, did you have a problem getting in? As in, were you asked why you're visiting for such a long time?

We have finally sent the petition off! I didn't include an additional paper for Q18 since I could fit everything that I wanted to say in that one box. Kinda scares me since most of the people here included that additional sheet...

Anyhow, when I went there for 6 months, it was a smooth sail! They asked me how long I intended to stay, and I told them truthfully (which was 6 months) and they were like "Wow, that's a long time! Just don't get married here" and let me go.

I guess the guy was in his good mood.

But things didn't go as smoothly as it was during my recent trip there. I was asked a lot at the immigration counter and was sent to the "red lane" at the customs declaration and had to open my luggage for them. Apparently "the requirements of having to have met within the last 2 years for a K1 visa" didn't ring a bell for them. And it was only a 3 weeks trip...and I had evidences showing my strong ties back home such as a sanction letter from my employer and my car and housing loan.

Anyway, about 15 mins trying to convince them and showing them all of my documents, they let me go.

They want to know about your meeting in the last two years, yes.

But, they also want to know about how you met in general, which for you, is online.

Two different questions.

AOS for my husband
8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!

I dont think the CBP has any access to your visa application. All they can see is the visa in your passport, I think. I might be wrong, but my recent visit went ok. The officer just asked why I was here (to visit my husband) and he didn't ask anything about my spouse visa or anything like that. Just how long I was here for and that was it.
