A contact of mine in an e-mail group sent this out... thought it was worth a notice, but unfortunately I can't find a source or link at the moment to verify the "news item".

I did find this link, but it appears to be from 2005...

I do know the LDPR under Vladimir Zhirinovsky is very pro-Putin, perhaps he's considering office when Putin steps down....

The Home Office currently issues tens of thousands of visas each year to the

foreign fiancées and wives of British men intending on settling in the UK.

It is a situation which has not gone unnoticed in Russia and has led

nationalist MP Vladimir Zhirinovsky to lend his support to a bill that would

make Russian women think twice before exchanging vows with a man outside the

country.

His party, the Liberal Democratic Party (LDPR), recently drafted a draconian

marriage bill that will shortly be considered by the Duma, the Russian

Parliament.

If implemented, Russian women who dare consider marrying a foreigner can

expect to be stripped of their Russian citizenship and never allowed back

into their homeland. Their assets will be distributed among their relatives

or given to the state.

The bill has formally been proposed by LDPR MP Nikolai Kuryanovich, a member

of the parliament's powerful security committee, with the backing of

Zhirinovsky.

"Our wonderful women are the best in the world" he says. "Wherever I have

been, I have rarely seen beautiful girls, only in Russia and some other Slav

nations."

Zhirinovski? He wishes. He is a clown, nothing that he does is taken seriously. If he comes to power, then Russia will get back to communism and start wars with others. As far as I remember, he is a total moron. This is just another way for him to get attention of others, since he hasn't done anything stupid in a while. I really doubt that this bill will even get a serious discussion in the Duma.

Mike.

Old news. It was already discussed in both the Russian forum and off topic. Granted I will never find the off topic link.

A good fun read about him can be found here:

Best quote is about Russian troops washing their boots in the Indian Ocean!

PEOPLE: READ THE APPLICATION FORM INSTRUCTIONS!!!! They have a lot of good information in them! Most of the questions I see on VJ are clearly addressed by the form instructions. Give them a read!! If you are unable to understand the form instructions, I highly recommend hiring someone who does to help you with the process. Our process, from K-1 to Citizenship and U.S. Passport is completed. Good luck with your process.
