Ditto! I'm sure there are many pedestrian-friendly cities with fantastic public transit systems across America, but I did not move to one sadly. Also, as much as I would complain about Tim Horton's coffee being just coffee-flavored hot water, I do miss having an inexpensive alternative to Starbucks and the like around.

Where I'm from, every gas station has coffee, and quite honestly, I enjoy theirs just as much as anywhere.

I find that to be a rarity in canada. It seems there's no coffee, just a time hortons or william's connected.

That's very true. Plus McDonald's does a good job at filling the void.

My husband's mom DESPISES mcdonalds coffee. I have no idea why.

Quite honestly, I don't drink coffee, I actually drink cappuccino mixes like french vanilla, etc.

Any time I DO drink coffee... it all just tastes the same...

White spot?

It's a West Coast chain restaurant. Probably almost every BC kid remembers getting a Pirate Pack.

Yes, I'm pretty sure I'm moving to the DC area and it's all interstates and freeways, it's a little intimidating. And yeah, while Tim Horton's coffee isn't the greatest, it's just a comfort thing I guess - knowing it's always open.

Sorry about moving to the DC area, way toooooo much traffic and only getting worse>hopefully you will live close to a metro. On the + side--lots of stuff to do. All the free museums are great

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

So I should stock up on KD and Ketchup before I move? Will do!!! When I mentioned KD to my husband he's all huh.gif and I guess in the USA it's just called Mac n Cheese. He could never figure out what I meant by KD until he was here for a month. laughing.gif

I wouldn't bother stocking up on ketchup because you can find good alternatives in the US, just lok for ones without High Fructose Corn Syrup.... the hunt's ketchup is pretty good and I am a major ketchup snob...lol

LOL I have enough stuff to bring with me to fit into our jeep, trust me, I won't be stocking up on any food items, despite the thought it might possibly be a good idea. good.gif

That's what I buy- Simply Heinz. I find it pretty comparable, better than the regular American Heinz.

Anyone know a good brand of perogies you can get down here? I've tried Mrs. T's or whatever, but It's not quite what I'm looking for. They have a noodle like shell, and I like the potato like shell. Can you get that here?

I miss quite a few things..

Tim Hortons! I used to always go there with my mother and sister and get their Ice Caps. I miss that :(

The cleanliness, and the organization.

The Drivers, I swear people here drive crazy!

The bigger city I lived in.

Free health care

Feeling safe. I don't really feel safe anywhere here, but that's mainly because I'm in Ohio which isn't the best of places. The news is scary here.

I miss Canadians and Canada in general. I miss seeing the Canadian flag waving around. I miss having Thanksgiving in October, I miss the Canadian way of speaking!

If you couldn't tell, I'm a bit homesick! It isn't bad here, but I'm still adjusting. Alot of my complains about here are area specific since we don't live in the best of cities.
