i've been waitting for 7 months and a half to hear about my greencard. i called uscis on october 5th to inquire about my petition and i've been told they will send me a notice. i didn't get anything so i called again today. i've been told they sent me an email . my mail works fine i didnt get anything about it. i asked the representative to transfer me to a higher person so they'll tell me what's taking so long. the second lady tells me that it can take up to a year. A YEAR?? everyone i know got approved already. it's so frustrating. i already contacted my senator and the ombudsman by mail over a week ago and i got no reply from anyone whatsoever. i fell like nobody gives a damn about my case. i wanna know if they lost something or if a forgot to put a signature on something and send me a damn RFE just so i see it's moving, even if i know i checked everything 5 times before mailing it.

can someone tell me what is the next step for me? how can i pull on the senator or ombudsman so someone notice i exist ??

Schedule infopasses until you get a response. I waited almost a year to get my GC due to USCIS erros. Also, contact another senator from your state. I don't recall the name of my senator, but God bless him, he did help me a lot.

i'm the wife aka aplicant. both me and my husband talked to them both times. where we live and with no car there's no way to get to charleston (7 hours drive) for that.

they had the guts to tell me that the forms are not processed in the received order as well. they said depending on the country of origin the ones with the easiest background check are processed first. i think that's BS.

i contacted the second senator for VA and he replied already. he needs the correspondence between me and USCIS. the thing is all i have is noa1 for my aos and between 2 movings i can't find it. i looked for it all day today

What a bummer, sigh man.

For people at an earlier stage of delay, a good question to ask when calling USCIS (and speaking with an actual immigration officer) is "Where on the processing floor is the package?" After the answer, ask "Can you please send an e-mail to the floor to have them move it along to the next station?"

An InfoPass appointment would be optimal, but given the transportation challenges, definitely involve your U.S. elected officials.

Keep the faith, si man.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

i moved once shortly after aos started, now i moved again, this time settled down probably for 2 years, but i solved it with USCIS and changed the adress by phone and filled the AR 11 ( i think that what it was). that wasnt a problem with them

tbone thanx that make me giggle LOL. i dunno if i spoke to an immigtaion officer, i just told the representative to transfer me to a higher person.

imma mail that letter the senator asked for, but since i cant find my NOA1 it bugs me he won't do anything

jim webbs is a joke. he didnt even bother to reply. what a poor excuse for a senator that says he's there to serve virginia

Please call to double check that USCIS has actually managed to update your address in their system. I figured that after performing no less than three steps to change our address (AR11, phone call, I-865), they would have managed to enter it into their system. But no, the ineptitude of USCIS never fails to surprise, as I accidentally discovered while talking to a tier 2 service rep last week. If you search the forums, it seems that this is not uncommon either (example).

By the way, I don't think your timeline is at all out of the ordinary given that you were transferred to the CSC. Bad yes, but not out of the ordinary (unfortunately).

i figured they have it in their system because when my husband called they wanted to talk to me to confirm it's actually me. asked for the adress as well and what i said was correct. ill call again at the end of the week to double check IF my aos doesnt get approved by then.

i know it's not uncommon. unfortunatelly ive seen many people with this problem. what's wrong about it is that many of them let it happen and dont fight for it. when uscis says processing times is 6 months then make it 6 months, if not, give them hell until they finish working on the case, like it's supposed to be. after all, their workers are payd from our money

Welcome, si man. In all seriousness, those are actually the precise questions that are in "their language" and can get results. That's the only way that my I-129F petition ever got where it needed to be.
jim webbs is a joke. he didnt even bother to reply. what a poor excuse for a senator that says he's there to serve virginia
We're finally getting rid of Kay Bailey Hutchison in Texas. After a day of trying to reach her head aide (on advice of an attorney who knew the lady), the aide haughtily cut me off with "The Senator has far more important things to do than to concern herself with one person's K-1 petition."

after following tbone's advice and also spamming uscis with phone calls this week, they approved it and very very surprisingly, the aos was approved and greencard mailed on the SAME day. didnt know it was possible but got to see it myself. to everyone having trouble with uscis , dont't just stay there and wait. REMIND them, that you exist and their people get payd from YOUR money to do their job. thank you everyone <3 god bless

Glad you got your green card, congratulations kicking.gif

Had you not I was going to suggest you put the brakes on a little, as you're still WELL in the average time frame for MANY applicants!

Looking at your timeline until today would make it 228 days. I was approved after 240 days, I know there are people with similar time lines still waiting.

Either way, congrats again, enjoy your LOOOOOOOOOOONGest break on your visa journey, 21 months of not having to worry about it! good.gifgood.gif
