Hello,

My husband's last name is long. In his old passport, the last name was written with a single space in between and it was an error. Since he was planning to renew his passport, I asked him to write the last name together with no space when he applied for renewal. I filed for his visa with the last name written together with no space.

When he applied for his passport renewal and listed the last name with no space, they rejected his application. He reapplied and just got his new passport with a single space in the last name. It took 6 months to get the new passport. He said that he has to go through the name change process to have the last name written with no space in the passport. He said it is a very long process.

Now the problem is that the visa is being processed here in US with no space in last name. His passport reflects the last name with a space. Will this create a problem when he goes for the interview in Mumbai and receive the visa? Please advice.

Thanks.
