I did try QatarAirlines, they do have the $850 to New York. Not sure why they don't have a direct flight from Doha (not Dubai) to Los Angeles.

We found the problem with quatar and other airlines here is they want you to go in or she will need to present your credit card when boarding. We booked directly through an agent in Houston and got a good deal. There is also a lady in Lagos that several of us have used with no problems. I rarely come on here, so if you want that info, tell Dwheels to let me know or PM me.

No you can pay at the local office. BUT the price is different from online so call first to see how bad they are going to get you. That was the problem with us & qatar. It took me like 2 weeks to figure out how to get the stupid ticket at a decent price. I was so stressed out over it. We ended up booking through the guy in Hosuton, AMD travel. We booked on December 30 and he flew out December 31st, 1500 non stop to Houston. Not to bad for the Holidays. I know the lady in Lagos has gotten some of our friends really good deals as well. I will try to find her number for you to have on hand just in case.

Emerites has an office near LAX. You can just go in there and validate the credit card used.

The issue with changing airline stateside, if they are not a code share partner you will be looking at domestic baggage allowance/weights and your savings may vanish paying for the bags ( that is if you get out of Nigeria with anything left in the bags and not on relatives backs)
