Prices seems to be good but you can;t really self schedule or purchase from their site and you have to call into an 800 number. When I did I felt like I was buying a used car huh.gif

So has anyone bought a ticket from them before?

They aslo won't accept my credit/atm card and I have to pay by wire transfer??? At least with Emirates I have an opportunity to go into their office on Sepulveda to make a payment.

Thanks.

I have flown to Africa 3 times. The 1st time I flew Delta. Second and third I used cheapoair. The key to buying tickets for me was to catch them on flight sale day, which is Tuesday from 1pm to 3pm eastern time. And, its a gamble, but if you get them about a week or two before, thats is usually when the best deals are because they are trying to get rid of those seats.

Yeah, I took a look. The price is good. But on the flight they want you to call and book, how do you know how many stops there are? Or how long the layovers are? Some flights have up to 23 hour lay overs for the connecting flight. Because I was curious I went to cheapoair and checked on a one way out of Lagos. It said they dont support flights originating from the destination I chose. Humph. But it let me search for flights from here to there. I hope you get a good deal and it doesn't stop all over the world. I like St. Louis to Houston, short wait, then to Lagos. That's how I want him to fly here when the time finally comes. In reverse. Don't need him getting lost in some frankfurt or amsterdam airport or falling asleep and missing his connection. So, Gowon, have you decided to go over to Lagos or are you trying to book her flight out of there?

Just looking for flight for her "Out Of Africa". It really doesn't make sense for me to go since USC are not allowed in to the interview.

The best scenario is Delta or United ($2k for round trip), Lagos to either Atlanta or Houston (POE) and then onto Los Angeles. But economic dictates that I go with Emirates ($1.4k one way) Lagos to Dubai and then onto Los Angeles (heck of a long flight @ 16 hours from Dubai). The $600 saved could go towards AOS or winter clothes. Ina ny case it will be only one stop, preferably not in Europe. KLM has some enticing rates too, surprisingly.

I'm not comfortable with ASAPTickets business model so far.

Have you tried Qatar airways? I found a ticket for $850 from lagos to usa international airport then from their to nc (delta flight) 80 dollars. you do stop at dubai from lagos but they provide a hotel for you and something to eat. www.qatarairways.com

I booked our flights last week, I searched on the ASAP site, found the flight I wanted then called the number listed....not sure if it's standard operating procedure but, when I called their number I actually ended up talking to a rep with ITN (International Travel Network) He was professional, detail oriented and actually even followed up after the sale. I have not made the flight yet obviously but I did call United Airlines directly after booking with ITN and everything was verified by United. I'm actually pleased with the service (and the price) I received. Whether or not it was actually ASAP or ITN I really can't say, maybe both are the same?

As a side note, I used Cheapo-air last year and the same thing happened, I searched the Cheapo site, called their listed number, but actually ended up talking/booking with Farebuzz. Who knows?

In either case, I was happy with the service and deal I got with both services. I recommend you call the agent I dealt with last week. His name is Drake. Tell him the guy from Texas he booked the flight to the Philippines and "got him" with the $200K joke sent you.

I did try QatarAirlines, they do have the $850 to New York. Not sure why they don't have a direct flight from Doha (not Dubai) to Los Angeles.

Thanks.

I tried and I noticed that they don't have any direct flight to Los Angeles. I hope we will be able to get one-way flight ticket from Lagos to Los Angeles under $1,400.

Emirates has been showing $1,390.00 for me for Lagos-Dubai-Los Angeles for a while. They have two flights leaving Lagos, one has a one and half hour layover and the other has a seven and half hour layoever.

I was able to do the scheme advised by Femi/Abike and it come out to be $1,050 to Los Angeles. it will however require transitioning in New York to an American Airlines flight. Not sure if the savings will be worth it for a first time traveller though it did open my eyes to future possibilities.

We found the problem with quatar and other airlines here is they want you to go in or she will need to present your credit card when boarding. We booked directly through an agent in Houston and got a good deal. There is also a lady in Lagos that several of us have used with no problems. I rarely come on here, so if you want that info, tell Dwheels to let me know or PM me.

Do you think I would have an issue if I went in to a local Emirates office and paid in cash over here?
