Permanent Resident Work w/o SSN?

Dear wise members,

My spouse is a conditional permanent resident for almost 6 months. She would like to work and we need help knowing what to do?

Does she have to apply for a SSN in order to be able to work?

Does she need to fill any forms that would authorize her to work?

If it matters she came in on the K1 fiance visa.

We are a bit lost and would appreciate all your feedback!

If she has her conditional green card she is ready to work

if she wants to get paid, she needs her SSN, go to the SSA and get her one

If it matters she came in on the K1 fiance visa. It doesn't. She has a green card, so the K-1 fiance visa is irrelevant.

She needs two things to work; a green card and a SSN. She has the green card, so she needs the SSN before she can work. Go to the nearest Social Security office and get her a SSN.

Before completing the SSN form I wanted to verify how does one go about changing spouse's last name?

she has to change her last name on her green card first.

your wife should have applied for the GC with her married name. I'm not sure if this will work, but bring the marriage certificate and the GC to the SSA and see if they'll allow the name change for SSN?
