Your far from a liberal and your wife seems to have things figured out nicely

My wife figures out things in her favor.

I am a liberal. I believe in individual rights for everyone. I believe Gay men and Lesbian women should be able to get married AND carry concealed handguns. I believe that black people should be able to choose which school their tax dollars get sent to for educating the children they chose not to abort. I believe that illegal aliens should be protected from exploitation for profit by US employers avoiding compliance with labor laws and wage and hour laws.

I also believe the best way to achieve this is to pay for it yourself.

My husband and i do not always agree, but respect each other's views. this is the only presidential election we agree on since i have been able to vote. we both support Romney

I always say that i am an independent voter, kind of leaning toward libertarianism.

my husband is a 100 % Conservative/Republican.

what about the rest of you?

oops, it tried to insert a poll in this thread, but must to have done it wrong since the poll is not showing. i hope the thread by itself is ok with the moderators.

This is my wife's 2nd Presidential election cycle. We have already early voted. We agreed on our vote for President (Democratic) but disagreed on our votes for US Senate (she voted D, I voted R) and town mayor (she voted D, I voted R).

Here's where I see we fail to build a rhetorical bridge between your position and mine.

You say you want to "pay for it yourself", the implication being that this payment mechanism should exclude government and taxation.

I see the government as the mechanism for collective action. When the government does something, we the people are the one's doing it.

We're responsible for all those seniors over 55 being on Medicare. That's us. We did it.

We're also responsible for all those drone strikes

I am Libertarian which means I agree with everyone on some things and disagree with everyone on others. Neither fish nor fowl, not liberal or conservative (though I think of myself as a TRUE liberal)

Same here... We are both true liberals/libertarians and while we may agree on the big picture, sometimes we disagree on the details.

In any case, it really doesn't matter.

Forget all that. Find a union Iron Worker with an attitude that's at least 10 years younger than you, drives a pick up, watches football, and drinks his beer out of a can. That's the guy who's going to rock your world ... three to five times a day if he's any kind of Iron Worker worth is weight.

Eww, I don't like younger men. Sorry. They're lovely to behold but so often merely decorative. I'll take my sweetie with his brains and brawn as is. And he did tell me he had a binder for me! I'm scared. It's dark in there.

Before my wife and I married, I wondered if she was a Republican (as I thought she was). It was during the 2008 election. It was important to me, because someone who went against my moral beliefs wouldnt be a person i would want to be married to either. Thank goodness she is a Conservative!

Yes, my wife and I both want Romney as President, and she, like I, get nauseated every time we have to see that egotistical, lying, Socialist, Progressive speak.
