I am Libertarian which means I agree with everyone on some things and disagree with everyone on others. Neither fish nor fowl, not liberal or conservative (though I think of myself as a TRUE liberal)

Alla and I do not agree on everything but so what? As long as she always gets her way.... She says we only disagree when I am wrong about something. She would be more socialist than me but at the same time is very conservative regarding the ideas of family and work ethic and roles of men, women and children (yes children have roles also!)

She is socially liberal, pro choice (doesn't like abortion so she won't have one), pro Gay rights (who cares? Not like we all don't have our own kinks anyway), doesn't care about marijuana, sex scandals (seriously? what do you think men do in Columbia?)etc. About like me on all those issues. Says we moved to Vermont because our female Pekinese and female Persian cat are always humping each other so we had to move here so they could get married. Too jaded from a life in the Soviet Union to trust government for very much or worry about small stuff, but loves the trash service we have. She is pretty well convinced almost everything is to control you and keep track of you. Especially the immigration process! But also credit cards, bank accounts, drivers licenses...none of which prevents her from using a TJMaxx card to get an extra 10% off shoes. Let's be practical about this!!! She says the Soviets "tried to wash my brain, but it did not work. I have a dirty mind!" :P

FWIW my mother is a Democrat (still alive and voting!)...one of those Kool Aid drinking types, and my father was a Conservative a bit to the right of Barry Goldwater. They always would be sneaking around on election day trying to get to the voting place without the other so the other could not "cancel their vote". Eventually would end up going to vote together. Of 8 children they had they are split about 50/50 politically with me in the middle with a love/hate relationship with all of them. Plus I married a Soviet just for the topper and most of the conversation in my home is Russian.

Your far from a liberal and your wife seems to have things figured out nicely

My husband and i do not always agree, but respect each other's views. this is the only presidential election we agree on since i have been able to vote. we both support Romney

I always say that i am an independent voter, kind of leaning toward libertarianism.

my husband is a 100 % Conservative/Republican.

what about the rest of you?

oops, it tried to insert a poll in this thread, but must to have done it wrong since the poll is not showing. i hope the thread by itself is ok with the moderators.

My wife is much more liberal than I am. I'm more in the independent/moderate category. I think she was a bit surprised after coming here to see how much a sham our political system is.

We do agree on most topics with a few topics including firearms, though she has come around on the latter especially with regards to the current repression and intolerance by the California government.

I just tried to talk politics with my BF. He reminded me dinner doesn't cook itself.

and you were nice enough to let him get back into the kitchen and finish preparing your meal.

We don't agree on everything politically and have had some very heated disagreements on some things but our overall political opinions are very similar and we are both 100% behind Obama. My wife suffered 4 years of Romney as governor so she wouldn't vote for him even if she was a republican.

I would not say "heated" but we like to debate the issues. How boring would life be if we were exactly the same. I definitely am not afraid to voice my own opinions. It is nice to know even after we discuss politics we can still snuggle. x

You got that right, Romney was a lousy governor and would be an even worse president!

Well, he's the one who went to culinary school. And he knows where all the knives are kept.

Actually, he just snapped a binder at me and said, "You know what to do."

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

Culinary school, huh? Nice. My dad was a better cook than my mom so some guys really are better in the kitchen. I usually do the cooking but Dsvid makes a few really good dishes.

This weekend I made my home made meatballs and sauce and also an baked apple pie. This morning he made us poached eggs and tomorrow he is making his world famous shepherd's pie. We take turns or help each other in the kitchen. If we are both too tired after working all day we order in.

Culinary school? I missed that post of hers. Man I thought she finally went out and nabbed herself a blue collar guy.

Dude makes mint as an IT developer. He grew up working class in the South, and put himself through college by doing blue collar jobs full-time. He's a stand-up, take-charge guy who doesn't take sh!t from anyone and for that he has my deepest respect. He has worked harder to get where he is than any other man I've loved, and every day he works harder to provide for our future.

He also makes a mean roast pork, tells the filthiest jokes I've ever heard and knows how to make a woman feel like a lady without putting her in a binder.star_smile.gif You might even like him.

Forget all that. Find a union Iron Worker with an attitude that's at least 10 years younger than you, drives a pick up, watches football, and drinks his beer out of a can. That's the guy who's going to rock your world ... three to five times a day if he's any kind of Iron Worker worth is weight.

You know that's a good question that gives me pause. She has only been here about 10 months. So far she has soaked in a lot and heard My friends and I talk politics a lot. I just went and asked. She said Romney of course. She did watch the debates.

Alla gets to vote this time! She does not watch debates, I watched them and told her what I wanted her to hear.

Here is how she rolls...

Herman Cain had lots of girlfriends...

"Meh, so what, as long as he is honest with his wife about it, who cares? Bring one home for her to play with"

Herman Cain made moves on a woman but did not pay for her dinner...

"The guy is a BUM, I won't vote for him, what a piece of trash! If he wants sex, he has to pay for dinner!"
