My work is paying the first $420 cost for the paperwork process because they want me to stop traveling so much and be in the office and I don't really have the money for paperwork. If I have my boss do an affidavit towards proof of relationship, would it be beneficial for him to mention that they are paying for the paperwork? Or could that hurt my case in any way?

I would think that sounds extremely suspicious.

An affidavit from an employer about your relationship is worthless. Indicating they are paying for the process may seem suspicious.

If an affidavit from my employer is worthless, then an affidavit from anyone is worthless.

The object is to prove my relationship and my boss saying he's aware of our relationship and lets me travel back and forth has as much worth as my mother saying it, if not more.

Your boss may say and prove you travel alot, but there is no proof to the validity of a relationship with who you are seeing when you travel. Being aware of a relationship is not enough. That is why an affidavit from an employer is not much help. It needs to be from someone that has a personal experience with your relationship. Someone who has shared time with the both of you together, for example family members or close friends.

As for the fee - I could see it as a problem. If you cannot afford the fee they will most likely be concerned and look really closely at your Affidavit of Support.

I make 36k so they can look as close as they want lol, I just never have that large of a chunk of change lying around.

I just won't mention it to be safe, though. My boss, however, does have a relationship with my husband as he has met him several times and was even at our wedding. That's the only reason I'd have him write a letter. My husband, also, will most likely be working for our company after he's allowed.

So I don't have to start another thread, does anyone know if black and white prints are okay? Or should I pay for the color prints on the pages that have our pictures on them? I was going to include some ACTUAL photos as well on top of the page compilations.

Ah... then that's a bit different. He just needs to make sure he states that he knows about the relationship first hand and that he was even at the wedding - not just that he lets you travel alot and is aware you have a relationship.

And I think it is a good call to just not mention who paid the fee.

Thank you guys for your input! That's why I asked, I felt like it seemed suspicious even though it really wasn't... just don't want someone denying me off the bat because I can't fully explain it all lol.
