no, I'm moving to Oahu - early December, but that doesn't help much. Your thread looked a little lonely though. Shame, I'm a dual New Zealand/Canadian citizen too, have family in Vancouver.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Always nice to know others in the same state. I know of 2 other vj's that are in Oahu as well.

How is it that your moving to Oahu in December without a VISA?

Just curious.

?

Perhaps the wording in my thread was misunderstood? If there was a state forum I would have put my thread there...

As I will be doing the AOS immigration process, in the STATE of Hawaii, finding out if someone else is on the same island/county as you, is not off topic.

The USCIS office for the STATE of Hawaii is on OAHU island/county

Looking to communicate, via this website, with other K1-s on Maui island/county.

Peace out..

I should have said.. if all things with my K1 visa go according to plan, I'll be moving to Oahu in early December. I'm just waiting for my interview to be scheduled now. After watching others through Sydney be scheduled recently, I'm expecting a mid November interview. And of course, if all goes well, I should have my visa issued and back in my hands a week or so after the interview, so I can book a flight to Honolulu early December.

Have a question for you. Are you planning on getting your SSN# before you're married or after?

Before I get married. Want to open up a bank account, and do some other things that require a SSN #.

I'll apply after for name change.

You?

I arrive on Jan 18th and the wedding is on Jan 26th, I only just realised you're meant to wait 1-2 weeks before attempting to get your SSN#, so I'll try and get it the day before the wedding as I would have been in the US a week by then - hopefully that isn't too soon to try and get the SSN#.

Because the wedding is so soon after I arrive in the US I wasn't sure if I should just wait and get the SSN# after I'm married and have it in my married name instead of going back and having to change my name etc. All the info on here and what most people are saying to me is to try and get the SSN# before I'm married.

Yes, that seems to be the consensus. With the 1-2 week wait time of course. Sounds like we'll be doing the same thing, apply right before we marry. At least that part of the process is free..kicking.gif

hmm I haven't even thought about the next steps after POE yet. my planned POE at this stage is December 5, but it could be delayed a little depending on when I get my visa back in my hands, most seem to get it back in a week, as long as nothing gets held up at interview. our planned wedding date is December 20, so I might be able to squeeze in getting my SSN between POE and flying out to Vegas.

we are going to Vegas and Chicago (where his family lives) between 18 and 28 December. so New Years in Honolulu!
