added MyheartsinCanada........somehow missed her last time.......sorry girl :(

did I miss anyone this time?

Cutie my dear,

You are only considering K visas in your timeline, right? Do you know of anyone keeping taps on CR1's?????

Thanks, L.

Yeah I was only doing the k visa at Montreal because Montreal really doesnt have much affect on the scheduling or timeline of the CR-1. I dont know might be keepping tabs on the CR-1's but I'll give it a look-see this afternoon and try and put something together.

Melytha, it's a word doc.......if you dont have word on your computer you wont be able to open it.

Just got off the phone with rude Montreal. I asked if by chance an interview appt has been set up yet

She told me "no appt. has been scheduled it takes 4 to 6 months from when we received the packet 3, there's no need to be calling inquiring, you will be notified by mail when the appointment will be"

Sorry to hear that....This leaves me wondering several things:

1. Are they scheduling daily now? they used to do it on the 15th of each month...

2.- Is there any difference between K visas and CR-1's when it comes to scheduling?

3.- Any difference between cases that went through NVC and the DCF'ers?????

Wisdom, anyone?????

Different scheduling with K visas and CR-1/IR-1 visas. K visas are scheduled by the consulate. I suppose DCF is the same as Ks since they don't go through USCIS or NVC.

CR-1/IR-1s are scheduled through the NVC with the consulate (15th of each month).

Allrighty then... there is a difference then - does that mean I should call past the 15th of this month (I am DCF, hence CR-1) to ask about my case?

Don't DCF's get scheduled by the consulate (even though they are cr-1 or ir-1???)

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Just a note for the DCF filers - I filed in June 2006 in Calgary and received my visa in February 2007 - total of 8 months (and slightly before the Adam Walsh fiasco - hopefully this hasn't slowed down the process any). I think I got dropped from this timeline because it was taking so long, but you can see how my case went if you search in 'Immigration Timelines' under nancy/alex - tried to keep it as up to date as possible - I know I was checking this website daily while the visa was being processed and found it the best source of information on how long others were taking. I never posted after I was approved by Montreal, but Canada Post managed to lose my ExpressPost envelope for a few days (so don't book immediate travel plans once you're approved, I ended up cancelling mine when I thought I'd get my passport/visa in 2 business days when it actually took a week). And once I got here it took two trips to the Social Security office and a reapplication to get my SSN (for a total of six weeks from entry before I could get a drivers license/open a bank account/get a job, etc).

Anyways, good luck to all!

You can add our interview date. :) June 1st. FINALLY!!!! Almost six months waiting for the Consulate in Montreal after waiting 8 months in the United States after the IMBRA #######. Sheeeesh. Hard to believe it's been going on for over a year now! Let's get this stuff done and over with!

My visa application was completed yesterday, May 10. What's the current wait time right now for getting notification of my interview in Montreal? Also, how far ahead are the interview times? I've been going at this now for almost 2 years.

Maybe I should ask this......is getting the interview date the next thing to happen and it's just a continuation of the waiting game or will there be yet more stuff to fill out? I've been reading about a packet 3 that sounds like still has to be mailed to me before I get an interview date.
