MTL Timeline to Interview

Everyone else -- I call this "Cracking the Code" or "Cracking Up" (you decide). I googled "immigrant visa interview schedule" and downloaded posted schedules for Ankara, Cairo, Singapore, Mumbai . . . Sorted them all in Excel. Each of the four Consulates are scheduling K3's and K1's with either a "6", "7" or and "8" after the 3 letter prefix (in our case MTL) and then the 4 digit year (2006) -- so, everything like, XXX20066XXXXX or XXX20067XXXXX or XXX20068XXXXX is now being scheduled for Feb, Mar and April. In other words, every consulate that I could find with a schedule on-line are scheduling interviews similarly -- it seems like the "6", "7", and "8" numbers are up next.

Yes? No? My number is in this range . . . (maybe maybe soon! :yes: ) I'm wondering, for those K1's who had an interview scheduled recently, what was your number a "5" or "6"??

i admire your tenacity i must say! i'm in the 8 category ... so this give me hope.

yes please ... others who have had their interviews ... what was your magic number??

Nah, I'm a ding-dong. :blush: Turns out that the three-digit number after the year (2006) is a modified Julian Day that starts at Jan 1 = 500 and then goes consecutively to 500+365. Which means that pretty much EVERYONE has a number between 600 and 800. Duh! Oh well. It was fun downloading the interview schedules, though. It's amazing how many of these visas the consulates process . . . I'm still digging away, though. I just wish that I could find a pattern w.r.t. the way that they schedule interview dates . . . sorry to give false hope! I should've done the research before posting . . . :oops:

p.s turn out that the last three digits are the number of cases that were generated by the NVC for the consulate (in our case MTL) on that day . . .

I think what I will do then is fill out my forms and send back my checklist asap. I already have my medical scheduled and I'll go for the police check this week. I want to get this thing rolling! :)

Hi riblet. I just found out that I got my interview for Montreal this morning. It is on March 16th at 8:30 for CR-1.

I am so excited!!!!

Please add my interview date to the list if you don't mind...or can I do that?

04/13/2006 received NOA1 petition I-130

05/01/2006 "touched"

07/06/2006 "touched"

07/06/2006 received notification that case transferred to Calif. SC

07/07/2006 faxed request to expedite to CSC

07/08/2006 "touched"

07/10/2006 "touched" with notice that CSC has received petition

07/11/2006 "touched"

07/12/2006 "touched" Does this mean we are getting somewhere?

languageladki - INTERVIEW DATE!!! In MARCH no less :D I honestly think I'm almost as excited as you. I almost got teary for a moment, but that was in a totally selfish way - I would be pretty ecstatic if we got an interview 10 weeks after case complete! Congrats & good luck!

This also seems to confirm what I've heard about NVC scheduling interviews for Montreal around the 15th :)

Hey languageladki !! Congrats on your interview! How did you find out ? Did you call ? My CR1 was complete at NVC about 5 days after yours ... I'm hoping for a date shortly :) Please, Please, Please

amarceau - I hope you hear something soon, but I'm guessing if you check with the NVC and they haven't scheduled yours yet then they won't schedule it until next month. My understanding is that the NVC schedules all interviews around the 15th of each month for the following month. But for your sake I hope I'm wrong!

Well I'm hoping it's good news... I called the NVC IVR tonight and the automated system says that my file (CR1) was forwarded to the embassy on Feb 15, 2007..... I hope that means the interview was scheduled :)

From my phone conversation with MTL, here's what they told us. (We were approved on 09/30/06, --usual transfer waits in between, contacted 12/03/06 with package, Sent back packet 3 on 12/11/06) Called on January 17th as had heard NOTHING back from them yet... Told that they are running heavily behind on processing, and that they were just now handling July through December processing. We could expect the appointment letter anywhere from 4 weeks to TWELVE weeks from my call date of January 17th. It is now over one month later, with still no word, so they must have been telling the truth :(
