I filled out all of my Fiance's paperwork for her, and printed it and sent it to her, but she is reading (again) that the ds156 needs to be filed ONLINE? Is this true?! I printed one for her already, it has a blank space for the barcode, I have tested the online form, all it does is generates a random number barcode. Here are the sites,

Sorry if I am getting annoying :bonk:

vj quote from Sheriff Uling " Filing Out the Forms: None of the official K1/K2 visa application forms will not be mailed to the beneficiary, as of March 2008, but may be downloaded from the Department of State (DOS) website [CLICK HERE] which is indicated in the USE Confirmation Letter mailed to the beneficary once the hard copy case files has been received by the USE from the NVC. As of 01 November 2006, the DS-156 (Nonimmigrant Visa Application) MUST be completed online via the Electronic Visa Application Form (EVAF) http://evisaforms.state.gov, which is sited on the DOS website. Completion of the DS-156K (Nonimmigrant Fiancé(e) Visa Application), the DS-157 (Supplemental Nonimmigrant Visa Application) and the I-134 (Affidavit of Support) can be done via computer (recommended), type-writer (just as good), or handwritten (last resort). All applications and/or back-up documentation referenced in Packet 4 should be presented during the visa interview and should NOT be mailed or faxed to the USE unless explicitly instructed to do so by the USE. I know the form is online. I put the link in the first post.

Someone who has ACTUALLY gone to the embassy lately, like in the past few weeks..

Did you do the online form for the ds156 or did you just print the blank one and fill it out?

I got all my forms from the VJ links.

Sorry to sound rude, but I need FACTS not SPECULATION. :help:

FACTS are that you NEED to have it printed online and the info that you entered is what generates the barcode. So enter the info, print it to get the barcode and mail it to her, if she doesn't have access to the internet/printer.

Thank you so much.

She has the one I filled out, so I had her follow all the responses from the one I sent, (she wanted me to do everything for her since she's afraid to make any mistakes) and she has her barcode now.

Thanks, maybe someone should indicate on the VJ page telling us how to file the papers that it needs to electronically filed.

Tomorrow I'm calling to get her interview day. I'll post the results on that later.

Now all I can do is wait. :clock:

Thanks again. :dancing:

Can that form, on that website be used by the US Embassy in Pakistan? Or it only applies in the Philippines?

You need to fill out the DS156 online and when you print it, it will print with the barcode. Be sure to fill the entire form with N/A or none in the fields that do not apply.

Correct, you fill it out on-line and print it out from there. Then you take this printout to the interview.

If the DS-156 form applies to you, then the procedure applies to you. You fill it out on the website, follow the instructions provided on the site. When you are done, you will click the button. It then generates a filled in read only PDF file with bar code. You can then print and save as necessary.
