Hi,

I am currently working on my AOS package. My I-94 is just a white card stapled next to my K1 visa in my passport. It has the entry and expiration date on the front, along with all the other important info. The back of it just has some small print information like "retain this permit blah blah blah" with NO handwriting, dates, names, or seemingly relevant information on it.

Must I include a photocopy of the BACK of the I-94 when all the relevant information is on the front? I don't want to detach it from my passport...

Thanks in advance.

When in doubt, follow the instructions!

I was easily able to fold the I-94, while still in the passport and copy the reverse side of the form.

Be advised that they may not just be looking for something printed or stamped on the reverse side, but rather the ABSENCE of anything stamped on the reverse side of the I-94.

Good luck on your immigration journey.

Thank you for your help. The official instructions simply ask for a copy of the I-94; I've only seen the back mentioned on VJ and elsewhere. But you're right, and I'll play it safe. A page fold isn't worth messing up my application over.

No problema.

Yah, I know that some of the instructions seem a bit arcane and obtuse. But hey, it's their ball game, their ball field, and their rules......

Good luck on your immigration journey.

It's because some of the I-94s have something handwritten on them on the back, and even without it, they're not just white/blank. It's the same with birth certificate where some are plain blank on the back and people get confused to why on earth they should send an utterly blank page saying "this is the fancy back of my birth certificate". But some aren't blank and that's why it's a good precaution to just send front and back.

My I94 has handwriting on the back, including A number and the full name of my husband.

When in doubt, follow the current instructions from the USCIS website. You can't go wrong there.

FWIW, we sent only a copy of the front of the I-94, still attached to the passport. We never experienced an RFE anytime during our journey.

I unstapled my I-94 so I can photocopy the back easier. I then stapled it back to my passport. blush.gif I didn't encounter any problem at all.

I would like to add that I - with my awesome paper bending skills or lack thereof - sent copies of the stapled i94 in the passport and had no issues with that either. I do think both are conpletely acceptable as long as it's all readable. CBP officers don't really care all that much about how they staple it all together.
