Hi All,

I really appreciate if someone could help me with a question I have.

My fiance (the beneficiary) had a name change but I am not sure if I need to send any legal name change proof along with i129f. I am not sending any doc regarding him unless I need to send his birth certificate which does have his current name on it.

Does anyone know if we need to send the supporting doc at this stage? Also is the beneficiary's Birth Certificate necessary? If so, does it have to be original translation doc or a copy is sufficient?

I really appreciate your help.

Yes you do. It would be like he's a girl (sorry!) in that he may have changed his name, but he WAS known as something else and so they 1. Need to know what the name was/is and 2. Need proof of the legal name change.

What do you mean "supporting docs"? You know of coure you need to include the passport photos, G-325A, letters of intent, proof of meeting in person in the last 2 years etc etc per the I-129F instructions, but if you're referring to "proof of relationship" then at this stage it's not necessary.

if you were from a high-fraud country you would do well to front-load (i.e. send proof of relationship) with the I-129F, but low-fraud countries don't need to.

The reason I mentioned "supporting docs" is because they mention we need to submit name change proof if we have any "relevant documentation" which has a different name shown that the current one. So I meant there are no such supporting docs that I am sending other than the forms.

So how did he change his name?
